I know it's old, but it's all I've got.

Just wondering if anybody here knows what I could do to increase performance. The bike isn't that bad at all, but I'd just like to see if there is anything I could do to tweak it. I haven't been able to find any aftermarket parts for the bike, only OEM replacement. ****ty part is, most of the things I'd like to replace on it are discontinued.

Anyway, in the owner's manual it says this for engine specs...

Quote:
Engine:
- Type: 4-Stroke S.O.H.C. gasoline
- Engine model: 3Y1
- Cylinder: Single cylinder
- Displacement: 249 cc (15.2 cu. in)
- Bore and Stroke: 75 x 56.5 mm (2.953 x 2.224 in)
- Compression ratio: 9.2 : 1
- Starting system: Kick starter system
- Ignition system: C.D.I. magneto
.....
I know I could do things like bore it out, etc. but I have no idea where to get the new parts that would be required if that were done.

Anyway, just wondering if you guys could point me in any direction?

I know that back in the day they recommended to ditch the stock exhaust for an aftermarket one. If you can't find one I think it wouldn't be to hard to have one made. Also make sure the valve cleances are in spec. This will save you from having to replace the rockers and the cam as Honda's of that Era had soft valvetrain components. If you cant get an exhaust then look on ebay for a stock one and if you find one then modify it to increase the flow. this will require a jetting change to compensate for the increased flow.

Thats all I have on this ...sorry.

Thanks for the tips.

I think I want to rebuild the engine, but I don't know where to get a new piston if I need one. Anyone know? The work I could do myself, it's just a matter of getting the parts.
