Default Rm60 Help!!

hello i have an 1980's RM60 that i am trying to get running. Before we took it all apart we got it started and it did run but was extreamly rich but would not move. The little jet in the carb was completly missing which explains the rich part. We were having probs with going into gear and found out a bearing went out in it. Took it all apart replaced the bearing and cleaned everything up. The piston was prity messed up. It had like 2 or 3 decent dashes down it and the sleve had a few divits in it also. We put it all back together but we cant get it to start now. No matter what i do i can take the plug out and its dry. Could it just not have enough comprestion?? whats the comprestion soposed to be?? any ideas??

If the plug is dry it is not getting fuel. When a bike sits for a lonfg time the gas in the carb dries out and leaves deposits that glogg all the small passages. I recommend you strip and clean the carb and that means all the little brass bits and pieces. Use carb xlean and compressed air. careful not to loose any of the bits.

Most of the time they are set in the middle groove. I suggest you try it there first.

i cleaned my entire carb and set that little clip. i also messed with the float valves and the tab was bent so far down it was shutting fuel off way to fast. so i bent that back and got it running pritty darn good idles and all. clutch works and it shifts just fine. but after about 15-20 min of ridding it begins to bog down and just get worse and worse untill it wont start at all. i pull the plug and it is black and wet like its all fouled out. no matter what i do i cant get it run again. ill clean the plug and it will start but after about 5 sec just die and the plug is all fouled again. the only way i can get it running again is a whole new plug. any other ideas?? thanks

Ok now that it will run you need to adjust your jetting. You can do this first by adjusting your air screw and needle height.

Air Screw turned clockwise is Richer (More Fuel) Counter Clockwise is Leaner (Less Fuel)

Needle Jet Clip adjust top groove is leanest and bottom groove is richest.

You should look at the main jet and read the number stamped on it. The lower the number the leaner and the higher the nuber the richer.

Keep in mind the outside air temp affects jetting. If it is cold your fuel mix will be richer as cold air carries more fuel. The ideal temp to jet a bike is 70 degrees.
