Default DR200 Check oil?

I just purchased a '98 DR200 but did not get a manual. How do you check the oil? I see the sight glass but is the bike suppose to be on the kick stand or level? Should you check a warm bike or cold? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi jerryhicks,

The bike is better to be on the level and check the oil when cold. The level should be around half way up the sight glass.

Hope this helps, Matty.

On the side of the crankcase, just below and in front of the oil filter cover there is a plug. Remove the plug, and with the bike level, pour oil into the filler until it dribbles out of the hole where the plug was. This is how you know when it's full.
