Default Helmet Lock on C50T

Love my new C50T but one nit-pick. Do I really have to cut through the left saddle bag side wall to be able to get a key into the helmet lock?

I have the same nitpick and the maintenace guy at the shop said that the helmet lock is pretty much useless if you want saddlebags. Hubby wasn't happy with any place on my S50 we could put a relocation lock on...the C50T might have more options for that. Since hubby put on those Kuryakyn ISO grips and there's a company that makes a helmet lock for those grips, I'll be getting those for my bike soon.

If you are relocating the lock you will need a T30 Security Torx bit to remove it. They are torx bits with a hole in the center. Available from most auto-parts stores.

Here are couple more options.....

If you have Kury grips....

Okay, stupid question. I have a helmet lock on my '03 Intruder VS800. I have a helmet. How in the heck do I get the two together? In other words, to what on the helmet do I lock the helmet lock to?

The "D" ring on the helmet goes into the slot.

Okay, then second stupid question. What's to stop someone with a pocket knife from coming along and slicing the strap and taking the helmet?

I usually schlep my helmet around with me in the store, restaurant, whatever, for just this reason. What am I missing?

About thing that stops the guy with the same pocket knife from picking the locks on cars and taking off with it....pretty much nothing.

What hubby told me, and I have found to be true, is that *usually*, nobody will mess with it. There are areas though that I would definitely NOT leave it out like that.

Well you aren't missing really anything,, like kehau said there are those who will do it anyways,,, rarely do I not leave my helmet with the bike when going inside somewhere. If someone is going to cut your strap then they are doing it out of spite/meaness/or sheer stupidity. They can't use the helmet if the strap is cut either.

But like kehau said,, I don't leave my bike where I don't feel comfortable leaving it. I don't go in bad areas, etc.

They make bags that you can put your helmet in lined with that fake sheepskin material for $19.00,,, the reason I know this is I looked at them the other day for my extra helmets laying around the house. They are like a bag that you can zip up with carrying straps. Cycle gear has them,, I believe it is a national chain,, if not I am sure they are everywhere.

My main worry with leaving my helmet is someone peeing in it while I am in somewhere!!!

I have always just placed mine on the ground in between the front wheel and the frame unless it's raining. I have even left my jacket there. No one has messed with them yet.

There ain't much use for a helmet with no strap, since not too many people know how or have the equipment to replace the rivets. And if someone came to me to replace a helmet strap that 's been sliced off, I would have a few choice questions for that person.
In bad neighborhoods your best bet is to carry your lid with you.

Amen to that,,, choice words would be the least thing I would ask him,,, I would definately want to see the scars where they had to cut the helmet off his head if there were cut straps.
