Hey All, Well, I had all the back pain that I could handle from my M50 seatpan that was shortening my spine (see my previous post). So, I finally got around to doing something about it. The link below has some pics of what I did; *I pulled the seat. *Cut out the protrusion for the studs with a dremel grinder. *Shaped a piece of aluminum to fit over the hole. *Pop-riveted the aluminum plate over the opening using aluminum washers on the seat side of the rivet since it was riveting into plastic. *Straightened out the factory seat bracket. Had to fine tune it and trial fit the seat several times to get the angle of the bracket perfect. *Pop-riveted the bracket to the new aluminum plate. *Reinstalled the cover using a couple of small screws to hold it to the aluminum plate since I couldn't staple it to the aluminum as it was originally stapled to the plastic. Rode the bike afterwards for about 30 miles and it was MUCH better!! Unfortunately my tailbone was still literally bruised from the ride earlier in the day so I still couldn't ride as much as I wanted. This is clearly a poor factory design and it's unfortunate that the first Suzuki that I've ever bought I had to modify just to ride it. Well, I still like the bike and now maybe I'll actually be able to ride it. http://p5.hostingprod.com/@kytle.com/m50seat |
