Default Rally

Went to my first biker rally today in Harrisburg Pa for Motorcyclist Rights pretty interesting, the month of May is Motorcycle safety month here in Pa, I've seen alot of signs around that read: "Motorcycles are everywhere! Look Twice! Save a Life! Over 1 thousand bikes. Pa has a no helmet option! Personally I'll stick with my helmet!

If you like your noggin,, I would,,, the ones without helmets are also the ones without brains,, that's probably why they aren't worried about protecting what's up top.

Rallies can be a lot of fun, and a great way to meet new people. I avoid the ABATE swap meets though, as it as 99.9% harley stuff, and most of the rest is for Indian or Triumph. I am an officer in the Southern Cruisers Riding Club, and our rallies draw folks from all over the South East, so I go to the one in Georgia, plus Alabama, South carolina, Tennessee, and sometimes Florida. The Intruder Alert intruder/ Boulevard Owners Club has several small rallies each year, and I also go to HUGE ones like Trail Of Tears, Rolling Thunder, Stugis, and someimes Biketoberfest and Daytona Bike Week.

I support people choosing to wear a helmet. I wear one myself 98% of the time. But I do not agree with helmet use LAWS: I believe in freedom of choice.

I believe in the freedom of choice as well,, but I do believe that the ones that do not wear a helmet are just thinning out the gene pool as others have stated on this forum.

I cant see how anyone can ride without a helmet. Its not the safety thing for me, although thats not a small part of it.

If I ride without a full face helmet, my eyes tear up from the wind and I cant see at all.

Not fun

When I was young and stupid, years ago, I rode with just a pair of sunglasses, T Shirt, Levi's and the mandatory biker boots! Oh, and on special occassions, colors! But back then they were like wearing a target on your back.

It still amazes me; A, that I survived, and B, how I tolerated it. I don't even like riding with my visor open these days! Let alone, get on the bike without all of my gear on. What whimp I have become!

Why do you need to see when riding? I just don't know why everyone makes a big deal about seeing when riding? I wear a set of riding goggles that look like sunglasses with the strap,, theu have that foam between the glasses and my skin. Greatest thing for riding with a halfshell.

Helmet laws or not, I will not ride without one and only a full face will do. I have no interest in adding insects to my already well balanced diet. Besides, a bug in the eye may spell disaster for me and my cranium.

If my work schedule will allow, I would also like to check out a rally. If custom bikes are your bag, Big Dog Motorcycles is sponsoring the Tornado Rally in Wichita, KS June 11-12. Here's the link just in case you happen to be in the neighborhood: http://www.tornadorally.com/
