|  Just had my first near-accident.
I was headed north on a road that had two lanes in each direction. I was in the left lane. A woman in a cage was ahead of me, in the same lane. She merged over from the left lane to the right lane and slowed down. As I was about to pass her, she turned left and attempted a U-turn!!! Riding a motorcycle and encountering your first emergency is probably like going into battle for the first time ... you THINK you are prepared, but you don't know how you'll react until it happens. Well, I braked immediately. I left about a 15' skid mark, but I didn't lay the bike down and there was no collision. If I had not braked, I would have hit her in the driver's door. Phew. |
