| I have an Aprilia moped with disks front and rear. That thing can stop on a dime. I've stood on the rear brake of my C50 and it feels like a downshift in comparison. I know there is a big weight difference, but is the C50 rear brake that weak? BTW, I use the front brake also. |

| Since on most cruisers, the rear brake only provides 25 - 30% of the stopping power, it probably seems a little weak. Consider that when you brake, even with only the rear brake, the weight of the bike shifts forward, thus reducing the stopping power of the rear of the bike.

| Why yes, as a matter of fact I have locked up the rear wheel on a C50. Twice, actually. First time was intentional, btw. First time was a few weeks after I bought it, and was in one of the local church parking lots getting a better feel for the bike. Went to a far end, ran it up to about 45 and braked. Realized I hadn't left myself near enough room and braked harder... about equally between the front and rear. As the weight shifted, the rear locked.. by that time I was down to about 15-20mph, and there was a slight slide to the right... let off the rear a bit and it straightened out as I stopped. Second time was when a cage pulled out in front of me, and was more a result of a rapid downshift and braking at the same time - locked for only a second, so I really shouldn't count it

Almost all of the braking power is in the front brakes. My Concours with the mice big dual front discs will slow it's 600 pound bulk with an easy two finger pull. Use lots of front brake - and practice emergency stops too.
