My battery doesn't seem to hold a charge, or maybe isn't getting a charge. I came out of the local bike shop the other day and the battery was dead. I had just put about 75 miles on the bike before I stopped. Luckily the dealer gave me a jump and thought it might be a wire I had connected to the battery to run a GPS, it looked like it was maybe pinched and grounding out, therefore draining the battery. So I drove the bike home, about 25 miles, figuring the battery would charge while driving it. It was completely dead by the time I got in the driveway. And the bike felt like it was not running right and actually stalled when I pulled in the driveway. I then charged it for about 3 hours and everything fired up OK. Drove it the following day about 80 more miles. Then got up the next morning to go an an all day run, drove it about 30 miles and it was dead again after my first stop. I was able to jump it again and headed back home. This time the bike seemed to run pretty good and never stalled. But the battery was dead as a door nail when I shut it off. I'm leaning towards the battery but I'm not so sure I could put that many hours on it if the bike was running just off the battery. I seem to be able to charge it back up and make it rung for 3-4 hours without a problem. Today I am going to charge it up and then turn the lights on to see how long it takes to drain the battery. Any input would be appreciated. |
