Looked at the white one tonight with my BIL and had him ride it around (a 6 footer on a Rebel LOL) and he says it sounds good and rides good. If he says that then I believe him. I took a good look at the parts and saw bits of rust here and there, but my BIL says that it can be cleaned off. Sounds good to me as well, and fits me well. Chris, my BIL, asked me "Is it Erin-sized?" and I was like, "Yea! It's Erin-sized!"

Keep your fingers crossed with the bank tomorrow.

if you are up to the task, muriatic acid can clean the rust off the chrome.

remember to get the nice resperator mask (with the most expensive cartridge) and leather gloves with a rubber coating on them as muriatic acid is quite corrosive.

glad you made the choice.

If I was to just drive around town (6 1" myself) something like a 250 would be quite tempting.

I would look them both over and ride them both. Get the one in the best condition.

noahmercy beat me to it, the white bike is easier to keep clean. The daily ride dust barely shows. However road tar shows up really well. Most of the road tar stays down near the bottom though.

True true....and my preference is black. I've never been a fan of white vehicles, cars, trucks, bikes, doesn't matter. Always liked the darker colors. May be a pain to keep clean, but look oh so nice when they are.

I want the white one. Tell you all more on Monday.
cricket -- This was the thread-starter. The question wasn't what color you liked, but would you get a white bike or a black bike I think the gents just took it that way.

Well, here's what happened today:

After playing metaphorical ping-pong between the bank and my credit card operators all fecking day (me being the ball, mind you), I will be able to tell the guy that I can pay up on the bike sometime near the end of this week. Hopefully that'll do, because he said he'd hold it for me until tomorrow. I'm hoping he'll take my word!

For whatever reason, I'm practicallly a sucker for a white bike. I just think they look better. That said, my Virago/Vstar 250 is black b/c I bought it used.

Before you do the Rebel, check for 250 Vstar/Virago in your area. Much better looking than the Rebel imo...plus both hold value better than the Rebel according to KBB and NADA. Folks who ask about my bike are generally surprised when I tell them it's a 250 - maybe because it's vtwin.

Best of both worlds? Got my eye on the black and white '09 M50 limited.

I tried. I didn't get far. I even tried to say that you were someone famous, but they didn't believe me.

Well, I'm able to get the bike later in the week.

Hope you get it!
Oh, a little naval jelly will remove the rust without taking off the chrome, paint, or your skin. Dap it on with a toothbrush, wait 15 minutes, rinse off with water. A good coat of wax will keep it from coming back.

I really like the looks of a white bike, almost bought a white C109 last year that had a huge discount but...................................

FWIW, I think you would look mega cool on a white bike!
