Default Luggage

Hello all

I’ve got a 2008 Suzuki C50T, and I’m looking for a bag to store my cold weather and rain gear in. It’d also be nice if it had the extra storage to hold my helmet on occasion too. I’d much prefer the bag to be the kind to attach to the passenger backrest and sit on the luggage rack, but I suppose it doesn’t absolutely have to. My raingear can be folded up real small, but “cold weather gear” is a fancy term for a pair of Carhartt bibs (they work great!) and couple other small things.

I’ve found plenty of bags online that would fit where I would like, but the problem is that I know nothing about luggage. Is it a realistic hope to be able to find a bag to carry this stuff? Any brands to stay away from? Any style to stay away from? I don’t want to put these items in my saddle bags as I’d like to leave them open for misc items (like if I run to the store or something).

I’m not too terribly concerned with the appearance of the thing (I wear Carhartts for Pete’s sake); I’m more interested in the functionality. I’d like to be able to take these things with me wherever I go – both long rides and around town. Call me crazy, but that’s what I want!

What has been your experiences with luggage (or maybe even this exact issue)?

Thanks guys and gals!
