Question C50 Help

I've been reading the forum and I know there are plenty of you out there that can help with these questions (and I'll take all the help I can get). I have an '07 C50 with 4,500 miles on it. No engine mods (yet). As most of you know, you come to know your bike and while a stranger might not recognize something not right about it you "feel it". I "feel" that my bike is starting to run a little rich. I notice it in what I perceive is a bit of loss of power, a little black residue inside pipe, a drop in fuel mileage and a fellow rider commenting on a slight bit of black smoke when taking off from a stop. It also does a small amount of popping on decel. Took it in to shop and they tell me nothing is wrong (although they never really looked at it). I see a lot of talk about these bikes running lean but have not heard much about running rich. I did switch to the 93 octance to make up for weak ethanol laced fuel these days. Anyone else experience this with theirs?

Also I would like to put a set of Cobra drags on it and install a fuel processor (pc3 is a good choice from what i've read around here). In doing some reading on the forum, several have mentioned obtaining a specific air/fuel ratio. How do you know what your ratio is? I assume the fuel processor might help with the "perceived" running rich issue also.

All commentary is welcome and appreciated.
