Default Trying to find good sounding pipes for my Volusia 800

Hello everyone, I am trying to find some good sounding pipes for my 2004 Vol. Nothing so loud that I will feel guilty coming in late at night but at the same time something that has a good deep sounding manly growl that will help get me noticed on the road. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

How much you wanna spend? Cheapest route is to de-baffle the stock pipes. I've never heard them but lots of people really like it.
Most aftermarket exhaust systems run $300 - $500. I found a pair of Jardine taper tips for less than $200 at onediasuzuki.com, have seen the same system going for over $300 elsewhere. I really like the sound. There are pics of them on the Members Photo gallery forum, subject title "04 Volusia Limited".

sisco-

I went through the whole research thing with aftermarket pipes just 3 months ago. I ended up getting the V&H Cruzers. They are very well made and really make the bike sound great. They are absolutely not too loud. I live in one of those deed restricted communities and I didn't want to get all the homeowners upset. Not one person has complained. Make sure you rejet the bike and add a K+N filter to get more air into the engine. Wait til' you see the increase in power. You'll find that you won't need 5th gear so much after you rejet and add the new pipes. Good luck!!

Most of us vol owners like the v&h and cobra pipes. if you get the pipes and also decide to change your air filter you will need to rejet. I have the cobras and love them. They also have a nice guard the covers the whole pipe.

I agree with hecky. Cobras are great. My buddy has Straight Shots. Great sound but my neighbors hate him. Actually I think they hate me too

Default Pipes

I see several people have said you have to rejet the bike when you replace the pipes and air filter. What does that mean? Is it easy to do, something a bike owner can do, or have to take it to the dealer?

The only aftermarket pipes that I think look at least as good as stock are the Roadhouse 2 into 1 system. Most after market pipes are louder than hell and look like they came from the plumber supply store...

I have RH's. Love them! Not too loud but have a good Bark when opening up the throttle. They are pricey though.
