you have to keep one eye out for "johnny law." and the other eye on the road in front of you. and another eye out for what the knucklehead next to you is doing trying to race you. it's enough to make you crazy or paranoid, or whatever. me, I generally don't dragrace cars for reasons already mentioned. Not to mention, I got a bike that is running on borrowed time. Very borrowed time.

I would hardly call getting the bike up to 40 mph dragracing. Its not like I'm hitting 80 - 90 mph to get away from these guys. Maybe, the fastest I've gone to pass someone in this situation was up to 50, again I wouldn't call that drag racing. Truthfully its not much different then how I normally take off. As far as the cops go, you're right there is always a chance, and I've got the tickets to prove it. But I'll only do something like this if I know where I am and what the road is like, as well as where the cops sit. Thats how I've seen people grabbed, because I know where the cops sit so I don't speed. Some guy from out of town has no idea and they get caught. Maybe its just me, but I don't consider 40 - 50 mph all that fast for normal riding and I certainly wouldn't give it a tag of dragracing. As for an oil spot or some stray water, that can screw you doing 5 mph and if you're going to worry about something like that then maybe riding isn't the thing for you. Getting on a motorcycle is inherently more dangerous, and that is something we all accept. If I worried about every possible little thing then I'd never get on the bike again. I am always vigilant though and that is different than worrying.

and another thing, the cops around here have taken up to is sitting on an overpass (no on ramps, no off ramps) and nailing people, then calling on another cop to write the ticket. stinkers.
