Default Key copies

So, I only have the one key for my bike, I would like to have some spares.

I went to home depot but they told me they don't do motorcycle keys, I also went to advance auto.

Where can you get duplicate motorcycle keys made??

A locksmith shop has blanks, but make sure that key is long enough to unlock the steering.

I bought blanks online (wanted plastic heads). Home Depot cut them free, and they work perfectly.

A lot depends upon the bike model. If it's a 2005 or later, chances are that you'll have to buy the spare key from the dealer, since the keys have a chip to deactivate the immobilizer.

Since yours is a 1998 (according to your sig), you may find a locksmith that has blanks, or you may have to order the blank from the dealer (or on eBay), then have it cut at a local hardware store or by a locksmith. For my Suzuki, I had to look around a bit, but I found a locksmith who had blanks and could cut me copies. For my Triumph, I had to get the blank from the dealer, because I couldn't find anyone who carried that model.

You can get the blanks at a dealer and take it to any key cutter to get cut.

good to know, I guess I need to hunt down an ACE hardware. I understand blanks from the dealership are like 5-10 bucks... which is only 10-20x what they should cost.
