Default Gear Oil

Hello,
The Suzuki dealer gave me this Honda trans oil for my M50 shaft drive. Has anyone used this stuff before??
Honda Tran oil...
Honda Motorcycles

It does not mention if its GL-5 or not. I know that is what the specs say in the manual however I did not remember that when the dealer handed me this stuff. i went ahead and put it in but it looks more like red "car" tranny oil than real brown gear oil. (stinky stuff) Any feedback welcome...

TIA

I can't remember what brand I bought, but it was also Red in color. As long as it is 90w, and GL5 you should be fine.

I did notice that this oil is advertised as a 2-stroke and they don't have the same oil for a 4-stroke. I don't know that much about oil but just thought I would point out the ad. I use this.

I got something that was 80w-90 at O'reilley's and GL5. It wasn't red, but more like a clearish gold color

Default Don't trust the parts guys!!!!

Turns out the bone head parts guy gave me the wrong Trans Oil!! Must have Hypoid (gear type) GL5 with min 90w for shaft drive M50. (like this PENNZOIL® GEAR OILS)
That crap is for 4 wheelers. ALWAYS double check the parts guys!! Glad I only drove down the street for a leak test..

Don't double check the parts guy, rather don't use him. I thought something was screwed up when I saw the ad having it labeled for 2-stroke and not 4.

That's what I use. It actually quiets down the final drive.

If you look at the rack of oils, you will find that Honda makes a shaft drive specific oil. The parts guy gave you tranny oil for the 2 stroke race bikes.

What Vinnie posted is fully sythetic gear oil, and also what I use. Good stuff.
