Admittedly an operator error, but returning from an extended ride, noted that right bag had settled onto the hot exhaust. This caused a meltdown of a plastic carton of mini blade fuses, a fleece sweater and a cb radio not to mention the damage done to the bag itself. Here was my overkill solution; an extension made to the bag supports and a shelf from an old bar-b-q grill. So far it is working.
