Default From a 1200cc sportster to an M50

Hey, just trying to find the right bike, I just got a smokin deal on a 2007 m50, and I've been reading all the interesting information everybody has. My first bike was a 600 shadow, what a perfect starter bike, then I had a Yamaha 1100 v-star classic awesome bike, then a Harley 1200 sportster (least favorite) at least I can say I had one and did not care for it too much. Now the M50, I've only had it two days, so far so good (I'm talking I LOVE IT) (I just want to always go outside and look at it). The power is adequate, I do not want the expense of a heavier more powerful bike, I'm all about fun at a reasonalbe expense if that's possible for a bike owner. Of course I'm ready for some accessories. First off I've been reading all this information about some risers, I would be much more comfortable with the handlebars back 2 to 4 inches. Can anyone tell me the cheapest way to go on that? I'm taking the bike for it's first service, the 600 mile, and I will talk to the service people about the riser/handle bar option but we're talking dealer here so I know it will be EXPENSIVE, so if anybody can give me some info on that subject it will definetly be appreciated. I look forward to reading and learning from everybody that posts their thoughts and information on this sight. thanks

There's a thread or two about risers in the M50 hideout.

The cheapest way to change the position that much would be to install C50 handlebars although you might not like the look of C50 bars on your M. You might be lucky enough to get a hold of a set of 07M50LTD's sweet custom riser spacers and in combo with rotating your handlebar some may get what you're looking for. There are plenty of aftermarket risers you can buy and you can find a good deal if you search. You'll likely need to either order some adapter bolts, do some modding to your speedo mount and reroute the cables though. But those are pretty easy mods.

Thanks, there was some good information on that forum, I'm still not sure which is the best way to go. There was a post about just simply adjusting the postion of the existing bar postion. I want to find out if that really made a difference to anyone. I really appreciate the feedback and any other info you come across in the furture. Thanks again.

Smile Still Loving My M50

So I got the Memphis Fats 21" and it's just like some one said here on the sight: Police shield, at first I felt like a gladiator from old time, we're talking shield in the true sense of the word. At first I felt like I was driving a shield around. I've adjusted it some, gave it a good slant and I like it ok, plus it's got the shaded black at the bottom which makes it look cool. Not sure I would have much rather went with a different sheild. What's done is done I thought I got an excelent price at Motorcycle Pro Shops. I paid $238 that was with shipping included. The more I'm driving with it the more I like it, plus I am a shield person, by that I mean I've been around the block riding and I'm done being a tough b!@#$. I do not always use a helmet, come on I live in Phoenix it can be VERY hot. So as far as finding a more comfortable riding position, Much Thanks to JEFF I ordered the riser's and should be receiving them soon, and I order the back support from Grasshopper unlimited, because that is what I am looking for, a more forward position. There was some complaints about nuts on the tank, well I do not have to worry about that soooooooooooooo, sorry guys hopefully you'll solve your dilemma. Maybe I will see you guys on the road! We ride YEAR round here.......

from the above it sounds like you equated the M50 with a toyota corolla or something

just meant this line

"The power is adequate, I do not want the expense of a heavier more powerful bike, I'm all about fun at a reasonalbe expense if that's possible for a bike owner. Of course I'm ready for some accessories"

replace bike with car and it's you average 4 door japanese sedan
like a corolla, a civic.. etc..

not that there's anything wrong with that... i have a corolla...
it's grey too
