Thankfully I took a long-sleeve shirt and my full-face helmet with me on the trip, so I could cover up on the way back. Otherwise I'd look like a tomato right now.
How was the ride to OKC?

I would love to make that ride, not to long and not to short.

Any suggestions?

I just bought their new M1 Modus for 2008 model year. That is the most comfortable full face/modular helmet I've ever tried on. A bit windy near the chin area, but fits my head wonderfully. All other helmets I have had to get an XL, but their L fit just fine.

Oh, and for the OP, I wore a Joe Rocket Alter Ego 1.0 last year. After a wreck, I replaced with a First Gear Mesh Tex 3.0. The Alter Ego was cooler on hot days.

I agree.

I am just now getting back into riding after not having a bike for over 13 years. I used to have a Honda Magna VF700 and a Ninja 600. Back then I was young and dumb and didn't even wear a helmet.

I feel that I am a little wiser in my older age and want to do things right.

get boots with 'oil resistant' soles. It will be stamped usually at the heel. Boots specifically for motor cycleing usually have this feature.

I just bought this first gear Kilamanjaro. Looks great, can't wait to get a summer jacket on. It's already too warm for the leathers.

Always.

I wear a great leather jacket when chilly, and then a pretty decent Mesh when it's warm out.

I always wear gloves, and long pants. One day I will buy a nice pair of riding pants.

Why? Slick is slick....I don't care what's stamped in them. My "alpine stars" motorcycle specific boots are stamped...and they're just as slick as anything else I've worn when on some slick surfaces.

I wear a tourmaster flex jacket. It has a liner for warmth, and a removeable outershell that leaves it a mesh jacket. I usually wear a wool or fleece sweater for the warm layer instead of the liner. Then I can use the the sweater off bike as well.

Wore the mesh this weekend in 90 degree weather. It was warm, but not bad except at stops. I was on the back of my husband's bike that day. He kept having me dump water down his back...auto cooling system
