Default Brand New 2008 m50

Hello everyone. I am brand new to this forum and this is my first post. This is also my first bike and I've never really ridden before save a few times on my buddy's shadow which was what convinced me to buy a bike. I did a lot of research and decided this is the most likely best fit (I say most likely because who knows, I've never owned a bike before).

Went to 5 dealerships to find this baby even though each of the previous 4 said that they had one in the showroom over the phone (lies). After roughly 8 hours of trying to buy this bike, I finally managed to get it home. (I had to have my bud drive it home for me since I can barely ride and we needed to take the freeway home.)

I have to be away from it until Friday because my commute requires a lot of luggage (so i'm going out of my mind!) but oh man am I excited and I thought I'd throw my first post down here and say Hi to you all since I'll hopefully be reading a lot here and posting a bit in the future.

I'll try and get some pictures up ASAP but for now i'm 50 miles from my bike

Thank you guys for the helpful advice. I do intend to take the safety course ASAP. I have finals coming up so my weekends are filled with studying. I am reading all of my handbooks concerning safety repeatedly to pass the time as I wait to be reunited with my new pride and joy and look forward to learning to ride safely from qualified instructors so that I can feel confident in at least a solid exposure to potentially life saving strategies as I slowly gain the skill to fully practice them on my new bike. Thanks again for the replies and the safety first attitude of this forum is very comforting and refreshing compared to some of the social scenes where I live.
