Default C90 pillion fits on a C50?

I've read that the pillion off of a C90 was mounted on a C50, but there was no mention about being a direct bolt on or weather modifications were required. Has anybody done that mod? All that was said is that the C90 pillion is wider than the C50 pillion. Does any of the members who have replaced the original with an aftermarket have a C90 pillion that they're willing to part with? Any info that you can share would be appreciated.

I would have to say they are not the same Mike. The OEM part #'s and prices and different if that is any indication. Price diff. is about $30 less for the C50.

After looking at a C90 and a C50 seat today at the stealership I am going to see if I can find a C90 seat with all the hardware to put on my C50T.

Are you saying that the C90 seat will bolt on to the C50? Let us know the results Uncle B.

The seats are quite different and do not interchange. But with a little drilling and creative engineering you can make the passenger pillon from the C90 fit the C50.

Was at the dealer in Weatherford TX 4/19/08 asked if seats would interchange from the 90 to the 50 sales person didn't know went and got an allen wrench took both seats off with the single bolt from the rear to see.
At that point they would not interchange.
With futher study it looked like if hardware was changed then they would interchange.

I did the pillion swap on my '05 C-50 Limited. I do not know the year of the C-90 that the pillion came off of.

There was a problem with the rubber mounts/cushions. I swapped those around, and with a fair amount of fiddling, the C-90 Pillion fit onto the '05 C-50 - no other mods were necessary.

The problem was with the hand strap - my wife wouldn't ride without one in place even though I had the touring backrest installed for her. I had to take a strap, cut it into three pieces, and braid leather lacing to join the pieces in order to make it long enough to fit the strap mount under the seat. This resulted in a nicer looking strap and was more comfortable for her to hold onto.

Now we have a C-90 T with a Mustang wide touring seat. All that work down the drain!

Hope this helps...

What have you done with the C90 seat you put on the 50?
