Default C50 best of all worlds...

Hi riders,
This is my first post so please, a little slack. I could have had a nice deal for a C90 (under 10K otd), but the wife loved the Sonoma Red color offered on the C50. I've outfitted the C50 with windshield, bars,breakaway cruise control, self-cancelling turn sigs, flasher (back off) stoplight from Kisan, saddlebags, back rest and luggage rack (anyone know where to find LARGER size racks?) and most importantly, Mustang driver and passenger seats. I think the Mustang seats go a long way to "integrate" the driver with the bike, kinda like what the Spitfire pilots must've felt like during Battle of Britain.

Wife and I loaded the bike and headed for a glorius, beeyootiful trip to Shawnee KS (1600 mi. each way) last September. The bike purred all the way and back like a kitten and we even put in 500 mile days with no buzz butts. Never at a loss for power, even while trekking over the Rockies and down into Denver. To answer a previous question, the studs on the seats and saddlebags never get hot or tend to fall off AND they add so much more eye appeal that we constantly receive admiring comments even from Harley owners. I picked the C50, because I tool around town everyday and it is nimble and a pleasure to ride for a cruiser. We are in our mid 70s and my wife is always bugging me to go for a ride, even to CostCo down the street. Fun, fun, fun.

I too go to Costco by bike, my saddle bags (only 20 lbs carrying capacity each) kinda help with spending control at Costco

A possibility if you are looking for more storage space and a better backrest for you wife might be here.

I put one on my C109RT. The install on a C50 would be the same. It just bolts to the current rack.

c90t get 45 miles to gallon if you treat it right. you do the math. love my 90 weight not a proplem just be careful at slow speeds. Also got my dealer to swap out the white walls for same tire in black wall.(hate whitewalls) for free and I paid 10,300 for my 09

Since this thread started a fairly long time ago, I had posts in here talking about the lack of fuel range and what exhaust I'd go with. I have added the 2.5 gal G-tank and have 6.2 gallons on board, and settled on the Cobra Speedster Slashcut pipes. I get to be happier with the bike every day.

when you put on the g-tank ,do you need aftermarket exhaust.or did someone figure a way to connect exhaust straight through

You must have AM exhaust. I see Gary aka GMan is a member here now so I am sure you can ask him direct.

Default C50 power and distance

My wife and I have C50 Lehman Trikes. Prior to that we had C50T's. Our trikes are a little less powerful than the C50T bikes, but we are still well satisfied. We just got back on a round trip from Dallas/Fort Worth, TX up to the lower Rockies, and back thru the plains. We averaged anywhere from 120 to 140 miles between tanks, according to how we felt and how far we figured the next gas was. Our trikes weigh somewhat more than our bikes did, we have more wind resistance, and both of us carried about 75 lbs. of luggage. As for power, we never had any trouble in the mountains, less so than trips up there in our car. Never rode a "big" bike before so really can't compare the 50 against the 90, but we are extremely happy with what we have. We are now plannign a trip up through New England into Maine and back on the same trikes.
