GS 550 Stalling problem - Motorcycle-Journal Forums

My bike is a 1980 GS 550L and it runs great except on the highway the motor will just cut out going like 6000 rpms. Does anyone else have a problem like this or have any idea what it could be.

Check the post below...about the 83 550 fuel supply problems. Sounds like you may be experiencing the same thing. Probably gummed up carbs, the needle's probably not opening up the jet enough. Check the carburetor boots as well (between the carbs and airbox) and if they're cracking, at higher demand you may be sucking in air and throwing the mixture off. Good luck!
