Default Buying 04 Intruder 1500, what d you guys think?

Hello guys I just registered on this forum and I am picking up my 04 1500 intruder on tuesday from a friend of mine. The bike has about 1000 miles on it and its black.I rode it fro about 2-3 hours and it didint seem it had any problems. I haven seen any scractes on it, althoguh I know he fell with it while he was waiting to make a left turn, I belive his foot slipped on wet surface. He said the bike didint touch the ground except the brake bar it was on his leg untile someone came and picked it up, and I looked at the bike and couldent find any scracthes or dings. Its a nice ride and i belive its about 3 months old. I am buying it for $6000 , what do you guys think? The bike is fairly stock except it has a different seat than original, the one pice one for front and back, I am getting the stock seats with it too. Reason for selling is his new HArey Road King, well thats a good enuff reason. lol

I don't know aanything about that bike, but I would try http://forums.delphiforums.com/mig/start and ask them. They might have some insight.

I rode a good friend's 1500LC Intruder and Loved it. The nicest thing about it was how strong the torque was in any gear. Handles really well even at low speed and was very compfortable on the 2 hour ride that I had on it. You can get a ton of aftermarket items for it and really make it to your liking. One word of caution they did have a small problem with the carb giving a hicup every once in a while. I think the local Suzuki shops have stated it is not a problem. If you change the pipes and jetting the problem is gone anmyway so not a big concern,

Good Luck with it!

A couple of my friends ride Intruders but I think they may be 1100's or something like that. They are extremely pleased with the bikes. They have a lot of zip and cruise on the highway very well. I am sure you will enjoy it. Have fun and be safe.

I felt that hickup too, but it went away after the bike warmed up.
I like the way it rides eventhoguh its a little heavy for my preferance. Its real comfortable thoguh, one of the most comfortable bikes I have ever ridden, its just kinda hard to do very sharp low speed turns, with that huge wheelbase.

Great bike, one of the most well-hidden values in the cruiser world. I bought my '98 in Feb of this year with 2460 miles on it. Like any machine, be it a Yugo or Mercedes, Ural or Harley, it will have it's quirks. Thankfully for us the LC has very few of them. I do recommend popping into a couple of web sites and reading up on your new bike.

http://www.intruder1500.com/

http://www.moccsplace.com/

A LOT of great info on those sites, as well as this forum.

Enjoy your new bike man!

Will

Sounds like a nice deal to me - everybody I've talked to with the LC thinks very highly of it, I know I like them - a very nice big cruiser.

6K for a basically new bike is a very respectable deal. The '04 incorporated several improvements (dual front disc brakes for example) that some earlier models lacked, so I would say ya done good.

Now, in reality a deal is a great deal if the buyer and seller are both happy. Are ya both happy with the deal?

I have had the LC1500 for some two months now; I think the price you paid for yours is a great buy.My is also the 2004.
Have logged about 1,800 miles on it. The only draw back is the milage;need to stop about 125 to 130 miles to get gas.
Also my friends makes jokes that it's no a H D but just smile and ride on.

hehe a buddy of mine gets kidded occasionally about riding an LC also. One time a fellow said "You shoulda got a Fat Boy" to which my buddy replied:

"Yeah, the Fat Boy is a nice machine. Just like a real motorcycle, only smaller." (The LC is somewhat larger and you can definately stretch out more than on a Fat Boy)

Now with that said, I love Harleys and willingly trade rides with my brother and his Electra Glide Classic when he wants a change of pace. His is a sweet ride, but I really do feel cramped on it after riding my Lounge Chair.

Default Intruders

I have had my Intruder for about 4 months now and have had nothing but total satisfaction...in fact I have already put about 9000 miles on it and haven't had a single quirk out of it. It's a great bike...the pleats on the seat are my only complaint...they get ruff on the backside after about an hour...but I plan to switch to a Corbin or Mustang soon anyway! You will love your intruder!

Sorry - missed your post until this evening. If the bike is as sound as you say it is, that'd be a sweet deal for $6k.
