I agree whole heartedly on the MSF coarse. I was away from bikes over 30 years and taking the MSF really got my head into it.
I am 6'2" and 250. I had a C50 and it had plenty of room.
My wife decided that she wanted to ride along and so I went to tne
c90. Almost twice the power and more leg room
I did have 2" risers on the c50 handlebars to bring them up to me.

I think that the Kaw 900 is also a good looking bike. The Suzuki just made my but the most happy.
Take the coarse first.

The course was probably the smartest thing I did when getting my bike. I ended up getting a 2006 Blue M50. From the time I got it about 5 weeks ago I have put 1300 miles on it. I have also put on some extra fog lights, memphis shades hell cat windshield (thanks digi), ISO grips, Johns forward control kit, Stebel Nautilus airhorn, Saddleman profiler seat, OEM rear luggage rack, Tourmaster Slant saddlebags (pieces of crap IMHO) side mount license plate, UV LED strips from Oznium underneath it, and then red LED strip in the rear fender tied to my brake, so when I engage the brake it lights up. I also ran extra turn signal LEDS to the middle of the bike.
Also dremeled off the rear license plate and turn signals and replaced them with flush mount turn signals next to the brake light. I love the bike. I had an Axio Tail bag, but it did not go along with the saddleman so a buddy of mine has it on his sport bike now. My next steps are to start some performance mods on the bike. I am starting to get more comfortable on the bike, which lets me know that I need to use even more caution then when I first started riding. According to statistics, the most dangerous rider is from 2-24 months because they feel they are proficient on the bike.
But all in all, I have been loving the hell out of it. Thanks to everyone by the way that has been helping me get everthing figured out and running right. If anyone has any performance stuff they are trying to sell, let me know!

Thanks for the update - sounds like you're having a blast.
It's refreshing to see a new rider come in with the right mental attitude, and ask the right questions and then follow the advice that is given.

You've officially caught the bug and there's no turnign back form here! Congrats!

I am 5.9 heavy Belly, 260Ibs. The S50 is my first bike, I bought two years ago.

I suggest start with the MSF first, It will give you idea how much power a 125cc dirt bike can generate, and how to handle a bike (the heavier it gets the more work you need to do)

The S50 is a powerful Bike, the fact it is lighter by 100Ibs than its competitors and have 800cc engine makes it very aggrassive.

differet from its competitors, the Pigs position is in-line with your body (most cruises, the pigs tend to be forward), it may be uncomfortable if you have a heavy Belly and going a long ride, this gets better if you loss the belly

Sit on the bike and look at the panel lights, see if the handle bar is blocking the lights . One other thing that annoying is that the level check for the break oil and transmission is opposite to the ridder position, makes it hard to check specially that the bike has to be straight.

Now, after all that is said, it is great bike and I love it, it is a great first bike, light weight, adequetly powered for the freeway. I already bought the Gel seat, windshield and bags to be installed this spring

Enjoy

NOVEMBER - I have a C90T, same bike with a larger engine. The S50 is 1 3/4" shorter than mine, and 1 1/2" narrower. Most people who have them say they're very comfortable, and are nice handling bikes. Quite frankly, I would ignore anyone who tells you to buy a smaller bike. If you do, you won't be happy riding it. I went through that, and it's not worth the hassle of trading in your bike to get a bigger one. What you become accustomed to will be the bike you ride the easiest. It's all in how hard you twist the throttle, and if you're easy with your bike, you can ride a big 1500 cc bike. Contrary to what people think, the S50 is NOT a hotrod bike. You'll be able to handle it quite well.
