|  Dumb questions? Just got a pair of saddlebag supports for my Vulcan 500. Looks like I need longer bolts, about 1/2 longer. Will I need longer bolts? I also read where it is best to undue one bolt at a time in installing the supports as lining everything up can be a bear. That true? Thanks.

| Luckily enough you can buy longer bolts and saw them to size. Like most things, aftermarket kits almost never fit quite right.

| I did this on my wife's Vulcan 500 and the PITA for me was rerouting the turn signal cables after relocating the turn signals.

| Mark... so how many places are you going to post this same question?...here is my advice again... ""yes of course...as long as you match the thread pitch and length. You can tell from the saddlebag support how much deeper the bolt has to be by the added length on the sleeve the bolt goes thru. If they ever DID rust a bit you're probably not gonna see it...and you can replace them in jiffy anyway. be aware that we get tons of comments from people who take the old bolts out and cannot get one or more of the new ones back in. Happened to me on my C50. The nut shifts relative to the bolt once it is free. I suggest you loosen all 4 bolts a turn or two first...and see if any of them are obviously still really tight. Only take out one that is really easy to turn and does not feel bound up! Take that one to the store to size and get the longer lengths. To change a bolt that is obviously bound up... flex the fender up/down/sideways/sit on it/ whatever until that bolt lines up and frees up. Then replace THAT one and you will know how to flex the fender to get it back in. Then do the same for any other sticky one. Dont tighten them all down soldily until the last one is changed.  | Actually yes, it is very frustrating to read a thread, then go on to find the exact same thread in another location. Personally, I don't search by forum, I search by new posts. So I see every thread whether I respond to it or not.

| First let me apologize, I didn't know it would be such a bother. Yet I must say if seeing a repeated post frustrates one well....I just don't know what to say about that. Other then that life is so very short and precious and that to be so bothered by such a minor thing seems odd to me is all, that it was realy not worth mentioning. But if that is the rule that is the rule and I will not do so again and once more I am sorry. Peace to all.
