| Could be running low on fluid. Or else there's a leak. Checking the fluid is a bit of ritual in and off itself as you need the turn the handlebars just so in a way that you can read the fluid being fairly even in the reservoir. From there, you can tell (with the help of the owner's manual) if the fluid is low or adequate. Also check to make sure to get the right fluid, you will also be using it for the brake too.

| I would have thought that low fluid would result in the opposite effect. I'm stumped.

| No Significant Other ![]() | You might need to take off the clutch/primary gear cover. The hydraulic clutch probably actuates a diaphragm type piston setup that pushes on a metal rod. The diaphragm/piston and rod can get gummed up with road crap from the chain. Take off the primary/clutch cover and clean up everything with WD-40. You can also remove the actuating rod and clean that up too ( you can pull it out by hand ). Give that a try before getting to concerned. I have to do this a couple times a year on the B12.

| Unlike a cable clutch, most hydraulic clutches don't have any adjustment on them, but the hydraulic clutch fluid, just like brake fluid can break down, and/or become contaminated. It usually doesn't get as hot as brake fluid can get, because you arn't applying as much pressure to build up the heat, but you can still get air/water/crap in the fluid, and it needs to be changed as a regular maintenance item.
