Default Aluminum polishing tips?

Hey all, I want to start cleaning up my bike and one of the tasks is to brighten up that dull stock aluminum..

I know I have to get the factory clearcoat off I did it before on an old bike with just some good polish and elbow grease but that was a hell of a lot of rubbing.

I intend to do the front forks, the solid rear disc rim, and a select few pieces from the engine and I'm buying some vtx shocks that will work with my rear top caps and they have a chromed case encompassing the rear shock area so the stock tops will need polishing too.

I've seen some custom buffing wheels etc and I'd really just like to get a good drill and attachments as a few of the pieces are not going to be easy to get to with a standard buffing wheel.

Since I have a parts bike I can possibly polish and sell those pieces to make up for the investment of the equipment, but I'm curious as to whether you folks have tips or suggestions.
