Wink No Hippo's

I just tried the Hippo Hands and at speed the wind pushed the brake and clutch levers.
They then sold me some metal brackets to hold the HH's away from the controls and the brackets didn't fit the stratoliner !

Well, now its our turn. Temp dropped A LOT over the last couple of days, so we're spending nights below freezing.
I grew up in Chicago and during 20 in the Army, I spent more than a few winters in northern locations of different parts of the world. I miss the snow too. And yup, I'm gonna have to bundle up and get my backside on the bike.

Wow, and I thought riding in sub-40 degree weather was a huge PITA. You guys are crazy with those temps.

Florida is nice, though. I can go buy a cheezy pair of black leather gloves at Walmart and my hands will stay warm as can be. You've gotta be really devoted to not take the car when you're chipping ice off your bike's levers before you go out for a ride.

Well, let's see if they work. I just installed the National Cycle wind deflectors and tomorrow morning is suppose to be a cold one.

I told this story in another thread. Last friday I was on the freeway and the temp was maybe +2. A GW passed me doing 75. Crazy people out there!!

Well the road test is off, due to rain. It was drizzling this morning, so still being kinda new at motorcycling, I decided to use four wheels.

I did get to ride a bit today. It was in the 40s and these things worked pretty darn good. I worn light cold weather gloves, but didn't feel any of the bitter cold that I felt with the heavy gloves. So far, so good.
DrBob, once again, youdaman. Thanks.

What i do for long trips this time of year is rob a few pairs of plastic gloves from the petrol station, put some fingerless gloves over them, then another pair of leather gloves over the top. Not great, but it's better than nowt

Bitter cold today in the Metro Atlanta area and the National Cycle wind deflectors once again proved their worth. My hands were fine in medium gloves on. Too bad they don't make wind deflectors for the groin area.

Gerbings gloves!
I had my wife sew somw little velcro strips inside my sweatshirt to keep the wire in place. Just run them down the sleeves and plug in on the left side. Works very well, and didnt have to buy the coat. Wouldnt mind eventually getting the vest though.

Default Relatively inexpensive but very warm mittens

Hi,

I am new to this forum. This is my first post.

I have a glove solution that is very warm (hands are toasty after over an hour riding in sub-freezing weather). It is very simple: You buy two pairs of wool mittens and a pair of gore-tex overmitts. Put the wool mittens one inside the other and then put them inside the gore-tex overmitts.

When you are putting your hands into this assembly, just put your hand into the inner-most mitten, and the rest of it takes care of itself.

I have used this configuration for motorcycling, skiing and snowshoeing, and my hands have never been cold. The one downside is that I have to grip the throttle a little more firmly as the wool mittens tend to slip a little bit inside the overmitts, but this has never been a major problem.

I hope that some of you find this helpful.

-David

My wife and I got each other the TourMaster Synergy heated gloves for Christmas. They're a good deal cheaper than the other electric gloves and come with all the connectors. I've ridden with them in temps in the upper 20s and my hands have been nice and toasty.
