Default Anyone have a sidecar?

I've been looking at bikes with sidecars and was wondering if anyone has one? If so, how does the bike respond different with the car attached?

I never rode one but I do know some people who have side cars and have rode with them.

It was almost like riding after a cager but slower. The guy who rides it says it's difficult to turn corners cuz the bike won't lean so he was going very slowly.

I'm not sure if it's as fun as bikes because of this, but I know it's not the fun part you are going after if you have a side car. A guy who had his dog in the side car looked really cool though!! The dog was wearing a tiny doggy helmet and goggles!

... I have an antique sidecar bike and it rides very differently. It rides flat to the ground... no leaning ever.

Left turns are easier than right turns too... if you turn too sharply to the left, you have an outrigger training wheel on the right side to keep the bike level. If you turn too sharply to the right, however, the sidecar itself can come up off the ground and the whole thing can roll over. Scares the pants off ya when it lifts up and you straighten out to correct it.... and end up somewhere you didnt want to be as a result. Luckily I only bounced over a curb or two before I go the hang of that...

You learn to corner slowly....lol.

It is for sale by the way....

nope... it is actually made by the "Nanchang Aircraft Plant" and it was made in 1962 in China. China made these bikes for the people liberation army from the plans of the 1938 BMW R71 and maybe 75 series German bikes you have seen in every WWII movie.

The Russians built a bike for the war based on the BMW and then later sold the plans for the bike to Red China....

Ural Motorcycles Europe | History of Imz-Ural

This one was restored, chromed, painted by an American friend of mine who loves bikes and tries to make $ this way in Shanghai. I brought it back from China where I lived for 2 years recently.... now I am hooked on 2 wheelers and it is going to rust away in storage... so it is for sale to somebody who would appreciate it better than I for just about what I have in it.

yep.... the lever point is reversed.
It also has electric start, kick start, shaft drive, reverse.... pretty sweet.
and, I kid you not, a stick shift lever on the right side of the tranny so you (or the sidecar rider) can still shift if you get your left leg blown off, I guess. LOL

That's pretty wild, a Busa with car tires, and a single sided front fork. It almost looks photoshopped, but cool non the less.

Our club has a member with a Ural sidecar combo, he has a hard time keeping up and often leaves the ride. But they have there good points too I'm sure.

Yea,it's easier to learn to ride a hack if you've never ridden motorcycles before. It's that different.

That is one pretty russian bike.
I wonder if tha 'busa one has a sidecar that leans.

If I got one I think one that would let you lean would be the ticket.

Good looking Bike and sidecar. If I were closer I sure would like to see it in person. Good luck on selling it.
