Default C90T Exhaust

Hi....

New to the forum. Bought a 2007 C90T in March of this year. Love the ride. First big bike for me. Haven't been riding much for past 20 years. Got all of the kids out of the house and it's time for toys!

Got a question....

Been through the searches and found several that have de-baffled their C50's. But haven't really seen anything about being able to de-baffle the C90. Can it be done the same way? Do I have to do anything to the EFI? Would like to have louder sound and I like the way the stock pipes look on the bike.

Have 3000 miles on it and it runs like a dream. My HD buddies are envious because of the lack of money I spent on it!

Mike

So you understand the problem. Here is the explanation on why you can't debaffel the C90T.
The factory exhaust is tricky. You will find those muffler looking things. They are fake. The head pipes come off the head and move towards the back of the bike. If you will look dead center though, you will find those head pipes turn and make a 90 degree into a muffler mounted behind the trans and in front of the rear tire. Those muffler looking things are just housings that look good. The actual muffler is low and behind the engine/trans.

To change your exhaust you're gonna have to invest in a full system. Not cheap but worth the money at the same time. If you want sound it's gonna take a new set of pipes.

Also depending on the pipes you get. You may not need to adjust the fuel system. I have the 3 inch big straight pipes from hard krome. When I had the bike tested with the power commander at a zero map (factory stock ecm)
the fuel was well within the factory specs. No need for the power commander. So change your pipes, then dyno before buying something you may not need.

When I put the sideburners on I ran the bike without a fuel processor. Seemed to run fine but had a lot of backfire. I then installed the cobra fi2000r and no more backfire. The only drawback as I have mentioned in another thread if you install pipes and the fit is not what it should be do not start the bike. The warranty will be void if you do. Take it from me you don't want to have to fight for a substandard product advertised as "the best in the world". So, as natew said it does depend on the pipes you buy. The cobra fuel processor is a lot cheaper than the powercommander and no internet downloads for remapping. Easy install about 45 minutes or so and very good instructions included.

I'm like you, haven't ridden for over 20 years and bought a C90T. My friend bought a new Harley Softail and immediately changed the pipes for louder ones. I found a site online that's BoulevardSuzuki.com, Suzuki parts & Suzuki accessories, The #1 Suzuki Motorcycle Parts and Accessories Shop, and they have all kinds of different pipes. Quite honestly, I gave up when I saw all the different pipes, because I'm concerned about screwing up my new bike by putting on the wrong thing. Have you thought about asking your dealer what you could safely put on your bike? I know mine is really helpful in that area.

I have one more thought. If you look closely at your pipes, where the pipes go into the muffler and come out are very close. I thought about having someone weld in a piece of pipe bypassing the muffler. But, as small as those pipes are, I'm afraid it might sound like a baby fart in the bathtub! Just a thought.

Your better off just buying new pipes. A lot of pipes out there are 1.75 O.D. and the stocks on the 90 are a little less than 1.375 O.D. You really cannot screw up anything by installing aftermarket pipes unless it needs a fuel processor which I think is a good idea to install with any new set of pipes. The pipes I bought made it really easy to clean the rear wheel. Notice how the stocks almost completely cover the rear wheel?

I bought the 07 C90 and went with the Cobra Powerpro HP 2 into 1 and the power commander III usb runs like a champ sounds really good loud when I am on the throttle but nice low rumble when I'm not.

Same boat for me too been about 18+ years since I've had a street bike. Love my C90 !!!

This winter I am going to modify my stock exhaust just for S&G's. Maybe, if I have time, probably, well we will see.

I couldn't pass up a deal on the Cobra Dragsters #3620 on Ebay for $325. Then I got the full blown Dynojet Power Commander III USB for $315. Installed everything in about three hours from start to finish.

Ran it with the closest map I could download from Dynojet, but it ran rich and popped on deceleration. Gas mileage went from 38-42 down to around 34 MPG.

On my next paycheck, I took it to MGS Customs in Lancaster, CA.

Two hours later and $270, I was dialed in. Around town here in the high desert I get 42-45 MPG.

Took it to Laughlin for the River Run. For 104 miles I drafted 30 other bikes at a smooth 90-100 MPH between Barstow and Goff's Road. Topped off the tank with exactly 2.01 gallons - you do the math.

Went to Ventura Beach last weekend with the wife, 40-50 mph thru the mountains, 70-80 on HWY 126 - I got 47 MPG.

Summary: Great bottom end torque (I can cruise at 35 mph in 5th gear, then accelerate). Excellent throttle response at any speed or gear. Nice clean sound at cruising speed, and definitely turns heads when I get on it.

If you are looking for the MAP for the Power Commander III + Cobra Dragsters #3620, I will email a copy for a reasonable price.
