I start September 23rd, and it's Thursday evening class/Saturday morning ride two weeks running.

I want a blow by blow description of what happens, if you don't mind.

My GF and I did the MSF course this weekend also. It was great and she passed, so she can go pick up her license today. I'm already licensed, but I found the course good too. Yeah, I passed too. I recommend the MSF BRC to anybody who is a new rider or who wants to be a new rider. I'm back in the saddle this year after about 20 years off. Bikes are better now!

Friday Night: In Class review of study book and questions.

Saturday: Start at range, choose bike, do riding exercises starting off at a very basic level and working on one thing at a time, gradually combining these things. Go back to class after about 5 hours on the range and see many tired and sore people - do some class study.

Sunday: Start at range, choose bike, continue riding exercises, cornering, stopping, swerving, weaving, riding over obstacles, and everybody's favorite two U-Turns in a box (figure eight). Finish exercises and a bit of practice, do riding evaluation and then go in and take written test.

A few people drop the bike or crash the bike, no serious injuries although one person drops out after first riding day. Everybody else in the class did well enough to pass. We had some very good Ridercoaches, laid back and patient yet very knowledgable and quick to point out both what you did wrong and how to correct it without making you feel like a dork.

Mine was very simalar. Two hours of classroom and then a take home multiple choice right out of the book.

Saturday morning was delayed for about a half hour as thr transport trailer was broken into (lock cut) no bikes taken as the campus police came accross the would be perps and they ran off into the woods. (course at the university). Start off pushing the bikes. Mount and dismount. Coasting on the bikes and doing 90 degree turns (no engine, slight decline)

Afternoon: Riding the bikes in first gear. More right angles . Lots of stopping and starting

Sunday morning, perps came back, stole three yamaha dual purpose bikes.
Sunday was fun with counter steering, up shifting, down shifting, emergency braking, emergency braking in curves (tricky, three nice wipe outs here. one wheelie, one dropped[lady stayed on her feet , it was great] and one endo.) Then probably an hour of more of practice before the test.
Test was . Three turns each side with hand signals. Slow speed straight, Slow speed slalom, slow speed two circles each direction then immedeately two fig 8's.
Then ride down higher speed test. Come to a full stop . Take left hand off and wave to show you found neutral. Ride and shift up to third and back down to first and stop in twelve seconds or less. Go back and get her up to third again and do an emergency turn in the direction the instructor tells you at the last second. Then to a full stop back down to first. REMEMBER SHOULDER CHECKS AT EVERY STOP AND START , MOUNT AND DISMOUNT. Great weekend , even got free wet weather training . We had one failure and one dropout after saturday.
Road test for license on Weds morning. Dealer who I bought my Rauder from is supplying me a bike for the tezst since I can't use mine until I have a license. He's bringing me a DR650 Dual sport.. I got to use a DR200 for a bit at the course. Sorry for the long post. CYA . Two days to freedom!!!!

One funny thing the instructor said was that the reason you should ride left of centre in the lane was because the centre was where the Harly's ride and leak all their oil.

I am starting my MSF ridercoach course in a couple of weeks..

17 year rider, sick of seeing kids kill themselves and want to be part of the solution..

Remember, Once your dead, they don't let you ride anymore..
