Default New S83 owner looking for good pipes

Hey guys,

As indicated in the title, I just purchased an '05 S83 (first bike too, by the way) brand new off the floor. I HATE the way the pipes sound (it chuffs) & seem to be unable to find any kind of aftermarket goodies for it. I will be drilling out the baffles this weekend, thanks to a link I got off this forum, but would like to have a nice set of pipes. But, as I stated earlier, I seem to be unable to find anything for this particular bike. I've found all sorts of stuff for the Volusia's, Intruders, C50's, M50's & such, but nothing for the S83 .

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

~Vryce

Welcome to the forum.

The S83 is just Suzuki's new name for the Intruder 1400. There are only a few differences, so a lot of items that fit the Intruder 1400 will fit the S83. Most companies that sell pipes should be able to tell you if they will fit for sure. I have noticed that a lot of parts dealers haven't caught up with the name change on their websites yet. They will say something like "fits 1996-2006 Intruder 1400".

Welcome to the forums!

That's a pretty BIG bike for a newbie. Hope you are a pretty big fellow too!

Any plans for a formal training course? It comes HIGHLY recommended.

Be careful and be safe. You can't enjoy that new bike from a hospital bed!

You could look at the following site...

Jardine Exhausts for

If you find a slip-on or full system somewhere listed for the Intruder 1400 it might be worth checking into because it still could fit on the S83. As mentioned by a previous poster the S83 is the old 1400 renamed for the new Boulevard line. I'm not recommending the Jardines, just linking you to the cruisercustomizing site.

I have a S50 and am shopping around for a slip-on myself. It seems that the popular brands are Cobra, Jardine, and Vance and Hines. I've gone to YouTube and found many videos featuring motorcycles and/or exhausts but the sound quality varies from good to very bad, so is probably of not much value. Interesting to check out however.

BTW, I consider the S50 to be a borderline starter bike (at least it is for me,) so the S83 could be a handful at times. A twitch on that bike could bring on trouble fairly quickly.

Regards,
-Mike

It's the first bike I've owned, but I've been rididng for a few yrs; my dad used to let me ride his FXR after he picked up his first road king.

I've noticed that most places I've looked have stuff for the intruder 1400, but wasn't sure if they would be a direct replacement for the Boulevard. I'll do a bit of digging & see what I can find. Thanks for the tips guys.

Look at my signature bike's pipes. Same pipes can be had for the S83/VS1400. They're from CruiserMagic2 and are the Nasty Twins.

They also sell a K&N filter & Factory Pro jet kit for the bike that'll really wake it up.

I went to youtube and listened to a great variety of pipes and decided on hardchrome 2 into 1 which I installed today. They look great and are very loud at start ups. At cruise speed they quiet down nicely.

He'll be hard pressed to find any 2-into-1 pipes for the S83....and nothing for the bike sounds better than the nasty twins.

There's no way an audio clip can do any pipe justice, so you're just wasting your time on youtube.

Awesome, thanks for the link wildwolf. I was starting to think I wasn't going to find any kind of aftermarket pipes that would give me the dual look that I like about the bike.

Time to start working some overtime...
