dont let em get so close to your controls that you hit them instead of the brake...or shifter !

Hi Bodie,

It's great to see another Ausie on here, I live in Newcastle and ride a C90.

Have you thought of getting the pegs from the states? I have bought a few accessories from cruiser customising over the last couple of years and it sure saved me lots of cash.

Heres a link to Cruiser customising's C50 page
Suzuki Boulevard C50 Parts and Accessories

Here a little tip for you, to work out how much you will have to spend (in Assie $) to get it delivered to your door just take the price shown (in US$) on Cruiser customising's web site and multiply by 150%. This is a close approximation only of the currency conversion rate & shipping charges.

Using this factor the pegs you quote at $180 would be delivered for about $120

Hope this helps

Thanks Newi but its too late! Just got them for $180, but thanks for the tip i will be using it in future. One thing thats a bit of a pain is the brake pedal. I have had to raide the peg up a little higher to stop my heel from touching the brake. Has anyone else dealt with this problem?

Can you post a picture of how you have them installed? What brand of engine guard do you have?

..Sgt Mike,
I have a C50 with offset large kuryakin pegs on 1.25 inch Cobra bars... here is a pic of where I put them. something happened to the pic I posted earlier in this thread??

...Bodie27
I have the footrest a bit to the rear...so my heel stays on the existing footboard and my toe can swing from footrest to brake if I need to. I can also put my foot fully on the peg if I am out at speed on open road.

This is another shot of the peg..its not a big drama. If I lower it, my heel hits the brake. I guess a wider engine guards would help of course but then its not a huge issue. If I swing it further to the front its too far away. Really if you were a casual observer you'd never notice. They look pretty schmicko. Its the extra bling factor. I think I'm chromed out for the minute. At this point I don't see me getting any more but I understand my fate and wonder what will be next.
Annie and Sgt your advice has been much appreciated. Can you guys put a couple more pics up of your bikes. (Yes I'm gonna be lookin for some more ideas)
Actually does anyone out there have any cool mods and wanna post a shot of it?
Next up will prolly be a K&N filter. I'm still leary of a windshield just yet and my neck muscles are still willing to put up with the pain. After that..hmm pipes maybe. By that time I'll probably be ready to get a new bike and have to sell all the accessories!! Sheesh!

Bodie... ... funny .

Listen I am a known worrywart so understand if I point out that your peg location looks a bit unsafe to me. On the brake side you could find yourself riding the rear brake (overheating it) without realizing you are doing it. On the shifter side your heel might knock you into neutral ..or downshift you when you least expect it...!

I would bring the peg clamp upward and then rotate the base of the peg more towards the front of the bike to get a cleaner separation.... finally you might want to angle the peg a bit like I did mine too....when you are riding, the vibration can cause your foot to slide off to the outside otherwise.

Bodie..
here is a recent shot of my bike... what you can see...
debadged
ISO grips and throttle boss
Memphis Shades 21" shield
OEM fender guards..
hiway pegs...Willie and Max saddlebags.

The willie and max bag chrome quickly rusted...otherwise they are decent bag. The rest have all been good mods.

What you cannot see:
Phatt 2" risers...
seat modified at Mean City Cycles Custom Seat Werks
(good for medium to lightweight folks IMHO)
use the Airhawk seat cushion
(great for anyone)
a backrest from Grasshopper Limited - Custom Backrests (great for anyone )

I am about to put one of these cobra lightbar on it too....so people see me better...

I am not gonna go for pipes... I dont mind the sound .

I bought the naked jugs, and PAIR valve kits too (you can find them here)...to strip all the chrome junk off both sides of the cylinders. I havent put them on becasue I read here about a possible $10,000 fine if you ever do get caught by a policeman who knows it is illegal to modify the stock emissions setup. Still trying to decide if I wanna do that one but I definitely like the look without the pair or air filter there.

Annie (long ago accepted her fate....)

Location of heels well noted Annie, but yes still an issue if I'm not concentrating. I think I'll just go along with them ofr a bit as I just bought the bars but I think ebay will be getting a new item. I did't really like the wider bars but then today i was behind a vulcan who had them on the fron and back and it made me think how well protected the bike and his legs were as opposed to mine.
One funny thing I have noticed about myself (yes more than one) is that the more I look at a bike or an accessory, the more I begin to like and accept it. My neice has a GPX250 (ninja) and i never looked twice at a non cruiser but now it don't look so bad. Choppers i didn't like then grew to love OCC. Go figure. I even like Harleys now. Scarey.
So i'll keep my feet off the brake and clutch for the moment. Risers..now theres a thought. You just had to go and subliminally mention risers....

...it is a virus.... we cannot help passing 'blingitus' off to other members.

....and what you notice about acceptance is human nature. once you get past what people or advertizing tell you to think about something and really see it...then you find out what you really genuinely like it or not.

... yeah.. you need wider bars... This is my second set of Cobar bars on this bike. I once bent my left bar all to heck in a slide off the road in a turn... it saved my leg.

... "want" and "need" are two different things. I probably cannot help you with what you "want" because that is a completely subjective thing. If you like them just for the looks...go for it....but be aware of the posture change they will bring.

..... the question of whether you "need" them or not is entirely different. They will change your riding posture somewhat more or less depending on their size. Is your ride uncomfortable becasue you really 'need' to sit more upright? Does your back hurt from leaning too far forward? Are your arms short? Do you want to ride your bike sitting like you were in an easy chair? You see what I mean? I cant help with that.

.... risers are easily found on the web... search by "pullback risers" and you should find lots of links. here are a couple....

SCOOTWORKS Motorcycle Handlebar Risers

http://www.moto-xpress.com/store/fil...lbackriser.pdf

Risers come in at least 2,4,6 inch styles...and also angle back an inch or two as well usually. I put 2 inch on my C50 for posture reasons because of my height 6'3" and it helped some. More than 2 inches you are liable to have to revise your brake and clutch cables to reach the bar.

Just to save his Laziness the trouble of getting out the tape measure can anyone tell me off hand if the OEM engine guards on the M50 are 1' or 1 1/4" diameter ?
Thanks in advance !

Nope arms are long enough thankfully but not dragging knuckles as of yet! I can reach the handlebars easily enough but have found if I lean forward an inch I'm not as stretched out. I like to recline (read:slouch) a bit while on a long ride but sit up straighter in traffic. I just think an inch would help. I rotated the bars recently and was surprised at how much better it felt. I'm guessing lowers would also give a slightly more in control feeling. Anyways that my thoughts!

Not the C50, but I had the Kuryakyn Large ISO Offsets on my VS800 (S50) on my 1.25" crash bars. I've got a couple pics of them in action, if not in use:
