From what I've seen Annie, as far as the st1300/st1100 is concerned there are only two kinds of riders

1) the kind that drive them and buy another st1300

2) the kind that upgrade to the goldwing.

People don't tend to trade them in; I know I've looked and the used ones have 50 + K miles and they still want over $6 K for them.

Otherwise it certainly is a bigger frame....and whoooosh....it can sure get up to speed a lot faster than my little baby....but I dont really need that... I am happy with my C50's power. It is not worth shelling out another $5000 for a slightly improved seat .
I will look into forward controls (thx Intimidater and v0lusia )...and maybe I will try this new airhawk seat cushion I just found.
Annie
Ok. Food for thought. Yes the seat can make all the difference. What people might be missing is one simple fact. Your butt sweats. This leads to chaffing and this of course leads to pain.
Here is what I do. Before I take off on a ride, I shake small amount of gold bond into the back of my pants. Then some down the front. The stuff keeps the sweat down and the comfort level up.
Other than that. If someone could make a seat that let air flow under our backsides (kind of like a beaded seat) That would be a seat mod that would make them millions.

Do you guys really believe that dusting your asses with powder like little birds relieves physical pain from sitting wrong?

They can be found here, and there prices are a whole lit less expensive that new seats, and sounds like they actually fix the problems. Check them out, and see what you think.b

Allen does a great job, have had many fellow VTX'rs have their seats modded by him and swear by it.... He's known by BadX on the VTX boards and is a stand up guy. Be sure to have the memory foam added...you won't regret spending the bucks and let's face it, $150 max including shipping is a whole lot healthier on the wallet!

I'm glad you came to your senses after riding the C90T. I just bought a new one, and the first thing I had to do was change the seat. I bought a Suzuki replacement, but wish I had put out the extra bucks for a Mustang seat. I sat on one a few days ago on another bike, and it's much better than the Suzuki seat. Oh well, too late.

Default airhawk $ or C90 $ ?

PNW.... yeah well... perhaps I would end up liking the C90 more ... DUH....but I did finally buy an Airhawk cushion for my C50 and it is working great. I just did two longish day rides of 177 mi and of 146 mi on the Airhawk and I am sold on the improvement it makes. I dont need a whole new bike after all... lol.

Checked into the "gel seats" when they were all the craze and heard that they tend to leak.

Then the air seats came out (this is going back several years) and I decided to wait until there was a clear winner.

....well that, and I only ride about 5 k / year. It's not like I'm going to set any records anytime soon.

I had the Mustang seat on my last bike, a vtx1300. It's a decent seat but personally I think its over priced. One of the main things I liked about the c90t was the seat. I saw the potential of only having to find a driver's backrest, which I did. I am tall and I do believe the Mustang seat, although it was comfortable, did seem to move me a little more forward. My old butt gets tired after a hundred miles so I just stop and walk it off. I do have the Airhawk and I alternate between the stock seat and that, kinda keeps my butt guessing.
