Default New Rider

I just purchased a 1999 Honda Shadow Spirit -1100 (about 2-3 weeks ago). It is my first bike. I've taken a few rides outside of town and back, but nothing too far. I'm thinking about heading to Wilmington, NC from Raleigh, NC (once I get a little more experience) but want to stay off of I-40. Any ideas on a good alternative to I-40?

Thanks.

Thanks - I've actually already taken the MSF course. Now I just need to get some riding time in and keep practicing.

Welcome to the forum, glad you had some training, now practice is the fun part. Have you looked at Mapquest for the area, once you zoom in to your area of interest, lots of great secondary roads will show up.

ride safe

When I was out in NC last year, I40 was a mess with all the construction, lots of other great roads to ride on.
