Default 1995 1100 shadow ace cooling problem

Hi, George from Chilton Wisconsin.
Problem with cooling on this bike. Temp light went on. Flushed system. No blockage. Fan works. New temp sensor in radiator. Coolant doesn't seem to be circulating through radiator. Thus sensor doesn't get hot enough to activate fan. Can open radiator cap after riding till hot. Not scalding hot, like one would expect. Suspect water pump. Thought maybe thermostat not opening, but when flushing, there was no blockage. Took off lower radiator hose, and ran engine. Water didn't shoot out. (maybe should of tried upper hose)? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Bike has 43000 miles.
Thanks

Hmmmmm.......seems to me like the thermostat would be closed during flushing, unless you were flushing with boiling water, that is!
Some of the "facts" here don't quite add up.

Could be the pump but for the difference in cost and hassle of changing, I'd sure try a stat first.

Most water pump failures are the seals leaking. It's pretty rare to stop pushing the water.

Thanks for the advice easy rider. You are sure right about the facts not adding up. What a mystery. Ordered a service manual, but will take time to recieve. Might have to pay high dollar shop prices. (man I hate to do that).

Welcome aboard,Georgieboy. Chilton, WI! Me, I'm from Jackson. Good to hear from other Wisconsinites.

The simple thing to do would be to remove the thermostat and check for circulation then. Heck, with the thermostat out, remove the top radiator hose and just crank the engine. Coolant should come rushing out.

Also, there is just a slim chance that the radiator could be plugged, but try cranking it over without the thermostat first.

Good luck.
