Default Considering Marauder 800 Purchase

My local dealer still has an '04 Marauder 800. I sat on the bike and really liked the feel. Since my GF plans to take over my GZ 250, this will leave me cruiserless. I really like the feel and light weight of the Marauder 800 and I'm interested in any pros and cons you Marauder riders may care to share.

My other choice is a V-Star 650 Classic...

I bought a new 2003 Marauder about 3 months ago (my seventh bike over the years). So far I really like it. I looked at the V-Stars, but around here they were considerably more expensive than the Marauder. I got mine for $1000 below sticker, no setup, no freight. The V-Star was $1500 more for a lesser-powered bike.

The only negatives about the bike (for me anyway) are that the mirrors are too small - they're round and I think those on the 2004 are rectangular, and the Suzuki windshield is way too short for me (I'm 6'6").

I have a 04 Marauder 800. I really like it. I start the corse in two weeks. The new mirrors are rectagular. I got the blue one. I find there are a ton of black bikes out there, so I am happy with my choice. I also chose it for the price. $6600 canadian.

It looks like the '05 Boulevard C50 (Volusia) is going to be the choice, since the dealer in Harrodsburg likes to sell bikes - the Lexington dealer seems to be very fond of his bikes - maybe that's why he has '04s left and no '05s yet...

If the Lexington dealer would have taken $1000 off the sticker I would have the Marauder under my butt right now. Oh well, I'll be OK!

Default New M50

Have you looked at the new M50 version? Amazing but it includes shaft drive and fuel injection and liquid cooled. I'm looking forward to taking a look at it when it comes out.

I too am eagerly awaiting the M50, my wife wants one bad. 3 local dealers say it will be march, but 1 insists they will have one this month or next (oct.-nov.) we'll wait and see.....

Yep, the M50 is totally different than the Marauder 800. It is basically a C50 with some style differences. It looks good and actually comes in colors too.

Besides the shaft and the fuel injection, the M50 is still quite similar to the VZ800. Shorter wheelbase than the c50/volusia(5"). Inverted front suspension, still a bit narrower(5"). But I see the M50 is a bit heavier now. Must be the shaft as the Volusia always had it and it's about the same weight. Comes in red. Dang ...a year too late.

When I dropped my C50 off for it's break-in service last week, I killed the 30 minutes my wife was late getting there to pick me up (par for the course) checking out what my buddy who owns the shop had gotten in over the past month or so. Had a couple more C50s and C90s, a real nice Concours (he also sells Kawasakis) and a zillion 4-wheelers (big market for those around here - farmers and hunters). I asked if he was expecting an M50 anytime soon. He said he probably wouldn't even order one because the Marauder was the worst selling bike he ever put in his showroom.

I guess everything is a matter of personal taste.

I really love the looks of the Marauder ... but being a bit of a "short-arse" I find the kickstand, when deployed, is a bit too far forward to reach comfortably with my left foot ... otherwise, it'd be a great up-grade from my current Savage ... esp. if it were equipped with an aftermarket belt drive.

Actually, chack out www.suzuki.com. The M50 has the C50 engine, FI, exhaust, fuel tank, frame, single shock swingarm rear suspension, and it weighs about 100 pounds more than the discontinued VZ800. It does have similar muscle cruiser styling, but it's a modified C50 platform, no relation to the VZ800 Marauder except for taking it's place in the line up. It should save costs for Suzuki by making two bikes on one platform.

Congrats on your choice of the C50. Think you will be happy with it. They are a great bike and you dont have to break the bank to have one. Oh yeah and there are plenty of accessories for them. Got to love the Chrome LOL.
