| Hello everyone!!!! I have never ridden a street bike before but have dirt bike experience. I want to buy my first!! And want a cruiser. I plan on taking short trips <2 hours or 100 miles for the first couple of months and maybe some 4 hour trips on interstates later in the year or next year depending on how comfortable I get. I started off wanting an M50 but read a lot of bad stuff about the seating position and sat on one myself and could see how people would complain. I felt cramped and bent over when I placed my feet on the pegs. The next was the Vulcan 900. It felt perfect!!! Then the VTX 1300 felt good but not quite as roomy. I like the Vulcan the best buy I can see myself wanting the VTX a couple years down the road. So do you all think the VTX 1300 is too much to start out on?? Or will the Vulcan be enough bike to go on say 4- 8 hours interstate driving. I am 5'10" 190lbs. Any experiences would be appreciated.

I would NEVER buy a bike without at least a short test ride.....NEVER. Some dealers are reluctant but if they smell a sale, they can usually be persuaded. Oh, yea........

| I got a c50 and riding it for a few hours isn't that bad and it has pently of power for me to ride around on. Good luck on making your final choice, I know it was hard for me when I bought mine.

| ... ![]() | i hate honda and their linked braking system. i'd personally stay away from a bike that has that scheme on it - i like to be able to control which brakes are used and how much. have you considered a more upright / standard riding position? there's quite a few bikes in that realm that would likely be more comfy for the longer rides - less pressure on your tailbone than a cruiser, but no sore wrists like a sportbike. examples are yamaha fz6, suzuki sv650 (non-s) and v-strom, honda 599, kawasaki z750s, etc... |
