Naw, I'll keep jerryzuki and I won't be going away. However, I've been so busy at work and riding when not at work that I don't post much anymore. That'll change this winter. If you guys ever get a chance to ride a tourning bike, jump on it. That is if you are interested in anything like that.

Okay, I didn't go the Harley route, but I went big touring also, and I love it. I've had my '05 Royal Star Venture for a month and, and I've put just under 3000 miles on it. I too loved the C50T, but there really is no comparison.

The RSV is soooo smooth, and the added power is so nice. Even tho it weighs in at 809 lbs dry, it handles the twisties better than the C50T did (but really loves the bigger sweeping curves). My biggest complaint on that was always scraping the floorboards.

I believe the RSV has a longer wheel base than the Harleys, and the added passenger room is very noticeable. I get nervous that my son is falling asleep back there and I can't feel him.

I've always loved those Harleys too, particularly the Road Glide, but they are out of my range financially. Kind of like the C50T, the Yamaha RSV has so much value. Mine is two years old, and I still have a full manufacturers warranty for three more years.

Anyhow, I wanted to say your bike looks great Egold, and it's obvious you are real happy with it. Enjoy!

You've got a beautiful cruiser there SoCal. Enjoy the bike, it looks like a great ride. I'm sure it rides at least as great as it shows up in the photos. Congrats!

CONGRATULATIONS Jerry. It appears that more of C50 riders are getting Larger Cruiser Fever. Hope you enjoy your new aqcuisition and get lots of pleasure from riding. I too loved and always will my C50T. It was my first (real) bike and has been faultless, reliable and a joy to ride from day one, I will alway have an affection for it. Needless to say the Street Glide is really a different class of motorcycle. I particularly love the greater performance and steadier feel without really noticing the greater weight.
Also had issue with RK position when tested it, I'm sure the bars make a very noticeable improvement. Somehow the Street Glide bars felt much more natural to me.
With respect to this forum; although I had joined HD Forums.com, I still find this one to be much more fun and somewhat feels closer to home for me. I really enjoy the company of you all and find it easy to communicate.
It really doesn't matter what one rides. We can all share in good discussion as we all share the same passion. Glad to still be here!

Hey Dave, I was wondering what kind of tire life you get with that big Yamie, a guy I work with claims he only get's about 3,000 out of a rear tire on his. I told him there must be something out of alingment, but he claims that's normal for that bike. Course, he does mostly ride two-up, and him, and his wife together weigh a bit over 600 lbs, still 3,000 out of a tire doesn't sound right.

What's your name over at HDforums? I'm "I am Jerry" over there. I agree about not leaving this place here, I gained a lot of knowledge here and made some great cyberfriends. At this point I still have the C fiddy T, I hope my son finds a way to buy it off me. That way I can still hop on it every now and then. One thing I notice is when on the interstate, I don't get shifted around near as much by the big trucks on the HD.

Yeah, I hope the handlebars help me as far as comfort.

NO!NO!NO!
You got it all wrong.

The Harley was just so expensive I couldn't pay my MJ.COM monthly dues for a little while.
Yeah, that's it...the dues....yeah.

Just use Elgold at HDF. Don't get there often though, just seems like they're a whole new set of people that I don't really know. Still prefer to hang out here at MJ.
By the way how's the bike been, hope you're getting a chance to log some miles. Have fun, be safe.

Boy, I sure hope not! I did a lot of reading on a Venture forum, and 3K does not sound normal for tire wear. I've heard from 6K to over 12K. The bike had 12K miles on it when I bought it, and I've put on new tires. It was a trade in for a HD, so I don't know the details from the previous owner, but it is apparent he took excellent care of it. I have assumed I replaced the original tires, but can't know for sure. Time will tell.
