Seriously, I have simply decided that I don't WANT a big bike, for various reasons. I find that a smaller, lighter bike is just more FUN for ME.

Whatever tickles your thighs!

Btw, which bike would your wife really prefer to ride?
Forget about YOU for a minute and what you ride.
If it was JUST her, which bike would she have?
Her answer, not what you think she would say.
My point is...is that @ 443 pounds dry weight, the boulevard s50/intruder vs800 is NOT a big bike. It's a whole lot of fun to ride and has power when you need it. I took the time to call her and read to her what you read (the "Btw..." part above) and her response was, "that intruder is perfect, I love it."

If you are considering the S40, I think you'd regret not giving the S50 a look, IMHO, as it's got so much more to offer.

I think my wife's confidence was boosted even more 2 nights ago. I put on an after market seat that lowered her a bit (she can almost flat foot now). Last year on a few bike night events we went to...she wasn't very confident pulling up & backing her GZ250 into a parking spot when there were other bikes close to us. She had no problems last night and didn't look nervous at all at Hooters with plenty of bikes around. I commented that she's handling it very well..and she stated she just likes the feel of it and feels much more confident on it.

But...whatever tickles your thighs.

That's the problem I have with the 250s. You shouldn't have to downshift at all to maintain highway speeds.

For what it's worth, though, one of the local club members & his wife rode down to St. Augustine, FL a couple months ago. Him on a BIG bike...and her on her GZ250. :

I am going to do mine whenever I have to change the chain. Might be a while though.
Thanks. I visit there often. Probably should register instead of just lurking! If you wait until the chain really needs to be changed, it might be a VERY long time!

Not much different than the GZ 250 I've already got.
Looked at/sat on an S40 yesterday. Not impressed.
I've decided I am satisfied with the GZ after all.
With a little seat work and an extra tooth in front, I should be good to go.
