Default Newbie with a cruising question...

Hi, all. Been lurking for a few days; what a great forum! Awesome info, advice, suggestions. Figured I'd make my first post: I'm awaiting delivery of my new bike (a Kawa Vulcan 900 Classic to replace my tired 650 Nighthawk). First time with a cruiser and I'm so jazzed I can hardly stand it! (Like a few others here, my wife said that if I quit smoking I could buy a bigger bike. ) It's killing me to have to wait. I keep cleaning the garage, lining up my tools, arranging stuff; it's like getting the nursery ready for the new baby. It's so pathetic.

Anyway, here's my question: I live in Lincoln, NE -- essentially, the middle of nowhere. Not finding any good Nebraska-area cruise info. Any advice on where to cruise or where to go to find info about cruising in this area?

Thanks again to all of you for the solid advice and for the camaraderie.

Great! Thanks to all of you for the ideas -- there's some great stuff on those sites! Also, thanks for the friendly welcome.

All I have to do now is make it through another week of work, then I can pick up my ride... How tough could that be?

LOL - I think Rowdy's pretty much on target. Maybe I should go hang out at the dealer's during my lunch hours during the week... You know, sort of "encourage" 'em to work a little faster, maybe make suggestions about the windshield's not yet quite aligned with the forks, saddlebag mounts not quite square, etc. I'm sure they'd appreciate the help.

Yeah, and you'll be able to wait another week for it then.

Yeah, I've heard about some of those great roads in Oz and seen some awesome pics. Whatta beautiful place you have there. I'd be there in a heartbeat; maybe someday I can. Of course, the fact that it's home to every poisonous animal known to man wouldn't deter me at all!

Yea, there's plenty of poisonous animals here ... the worst ones wear blue uniforms and have flashing lights and sirens!

Smile Woo-Hoo! :)

Ha! Fooled you all by going and picking up the bike yesterday! So I rode yesterday and last night and a little bit this morning... Very cool! Comfortable, fast, (not as nimble as my Nighthawk, of course), great throaty sound. Backrest & luggage rack are backordered, but the windscreen (which looked short to me, but seems to work fine at speed) and bags are on. Now I can hardly wait to actually ride someplace. We have friends in Kansas, so...

The bags (throwovers) were not adjusted correctly, so once things stretched out a bit the right-hand bag actually rested on the exhaust pipe! Tsk... Lazy techs at the dealership? Anyway, I had to make some adjustments but all seems fine now. I hope. ("What's that smell?! Hmmm.. Smells like . . . yeah, smells like burning fake leather! Luckily, I have a fake fire extinguisher with me.")

Thanks again for the great welcome and for the helpful info.
