| Good morning to all, I have a 2006 Honda Shadow VLX 600 DLX and I want to put after market exhaust system on it . I am looking for a little more sound and maybe a tad more HP. Has anyone changed out there stock exhaust and were pleased with the results? There are only a few companys that make bolt on exhaust systems that fit my bike...Cobra..Vance & Hines...Jardine... The mufflers seem to have the baffles welded in so I can not take them out and drill some more holes in them to give more exhaust flow.. Any input on this would be great...Thanks ...52 Magnum |

| I believe if you get a long enough drill bit...you could drill through the baffle plates, but I've not looked at the VLX to know for sure. All three companies you listed will have a decent sound, although just bolting on an exhaust won't necessarily give you more HP. Typically you need to get more airflow through a filter change and more gas through rejetting to accomplish that. Btw, I would prefer V&H or Jardine over the cobra. There are rumors that the cobra chrome won't last as long as the other two. The cobra pipes I previously had....didn't have an issue with the chrome, but rather with the welded baffle inside broke loose. |

| I installed Vance and Hines Cruzers style on my 750 spirit, and it has a nice sound and looks good. They also have only one screw to remove the baffles, so if you really want a loud bike, or to replace the packing it is easy to do.

| I've got the V&H Cruzers and love them. Buddy of min has Cobras on his Honda 750 and they sound great. FWIW, His Cobras are louder than my Cruzers. I looked at the Cobras, but went with V&H mainly because of some negative stuff I'd read online from other riders about quality issues on the Cobras.

| I didn't rejet it. Don't have a problem with backfiring or any loss of power. When I changed the pipes, I talked to a mechanic and he said that it wasn't necessary, unless I changed the intake.
