| I'm going to look for a used 1400. I've read good reviews, and it seems to be what I'm looking for in weight, comfort, low maintenance, shaft drive, power. I don't like the idea of spoke wheels, but a local dealer says that's all the 1400 comes with. Are there after- market alloy alternatives, and if so, are they too expensive to bother with? The 1400 doesn't seem to have a high resale value, even though it seems to have a lot of fans.

| The 1400 has plenty of fans, good dependable affordable. Problem is that the model asn't changed since 1987. That's good when looking for parts. But the resale value reflects that the bike is diminishing in popularity. Suzuki keeps reducing the price on new 1400's. This affects resale and proves that the model has done it's time. As for alloy wheels I don't know of any made for the 1400 and as a general rule they are very expensive ( $400+ per wheel ). Tubes may not be hi-tek but they get the job done.

| I don't get it. You want a used bike and are complaining that the re-sale value is too low. You want to pay more? I can't imagine a problem with a well maintained 1400. I bought mine new in 2002 (my first 'new' bike) and put 22k miles on it the first year. The only problem I had was ... ummm .... hmmm. Never had a problem! The re-sale value is also low because it isn't a Harley (luckily). Ride or die baby!

| They are not cheep. You can check some out here http://www.seegercycle.com/cgi-bin/p...b_bike.cgi?9.2 As far as the resale value. I didn't buy mine so the next guy can enjoy it. I bought it for me. To hell with anyone else thinks. I love the style, and I love the ride. |

| I plan to get a 1400 soon. Just sold my BMW R1100 RT, a great sport tourer but I always felt like I was riding a scooter. No sound, no image. I like the Yamaha FJR 1300 but it also might be a scooter, albeit fast, feeling. I take 3-400 mile trips and wonder if the Intruder is comfortable for that long? |

| Hey rpwswish, Well the 1400 is no scooter. But the stock seat after about 60 miles feels like your riding on a rock. I replaced the stock seat with a Mustang seat and now it is very comfortable for the longer rides. I also replace the exhaust with some slash cobra pipes to give it a much better sound.

| Hey rpwswish, I still have a stock seat and find it just fine. I did 900+ miles one day and found it fine. I have a skinny butt and a really screwed up back. I think it depends on the individual, but I like the stock seat just fine.
