Default A bike for the wife?

After getting out my bike yesterday my wife was leaning on the seat and commented on how she forgot how big it was, of course my response was it hasnt been that long. Anyway, back to the bike, She said that she couldnt imagine women riding a bike that size. She thought it was too heavy. I told her they make smaller ones so i immediatly got online and showed her pix of a gz250, a virago, and a honda rebel. Now i think she's thinking about it, but she's still a little afraid of "keeping it up". I told her it stays up on its own but you have to lean it to turn it. But i think maybe this year or next i'll get her on one.
If your wife, or girl, rides what does she have?

My wife rides an S40/Savage.

However, other good recommendations are.

Honda VLX 600 (excellent bike for ladies).

V-Star 650.

My g/f has a Yamaha Vstar 650 Classic. Your girl I would think have no trouble holding that one up. What I notice with my cruiser which weighs over 600 lbs...when I tip it over and try lifting it up..I think the cruiser is easier than my Gixxer. Maybe it's because it's lower.

My wife only rides pillion, but my daughter rides. She has an Intruder 800, the older version of the Boulevard S50. She is 5'3" and about 115, but she has handled the bike pretty well. She even picked it up after dropping it once, if you use your legs for power it really isn't that hard for a lady to pick up a small to mid-weight cruiser.

They’re all heavy until the rider gets used to the balance... very few of us can dead-lift even a smaller 400# scoot... and with the right technique I’ve seen some fairly petit and famine riders (well, only one...) pick up a full-boat bagger – without the right technique, it is rough on defensive linemen... I understand the mental impediments and the psychological attraction toward lighter weight, but the question isn’t weigh it’s balance... technique, technique... which can be learned – indeed it must be, or they’ll all feel difficult.

My girlfriend rides a Kawasaki Vulcan 500 LTD and loves it so far. I enjoy taking it out too, very light and nimble. She will probably take over my C50T when I get my touring bike.

Rathr I thought of something else. Next time comment when she says that the seat is bigger...that..."It's not the seat My Love, it just that your backside is so small."

My wife takes her MSF course next month, but we just picked up a 1999 Honda Rebel with 3500 miles on it. Perfect to start on and when she's ready she'll get my '06 C50c so I can pick up an M50.

My wife takes her MSF in 2 weeks and she has a 2006 Rebel 250 sitting in the garage. My 450 Rebel may be around for her to progress to - but I may sell it soon. She may want to ride my S50 when she's bored of the Rebel. If she likes it, I'll probably trade up - or we may see if she likes the Yamaha Vstar 650 Custom or Classic - her dad just bought an 07 650 Classic yesterday.
