| Thanks for the responces guys. I am may be getting it anyways because I am selling some other stuff that will make up the difference. I know about the MSF course and do plan on taking it as soon as possible. I just wanted to get a bike that I like and can practice on a little before I go so I am not completley new at it. My dad's friend is an instructor, or was one in the past and he offered to teach me a few things before I go. As for the 250's, I understand what you are saying, but I have sat on them all and to me they are just to small. I have sat on the 650 before and it doesn't seem that much bigger and the weight isn't bad either.

| LOL, its true though, for someone my size the 650's feel just right and easy to handle. There may be light at the end of the tunnel thought because I was looking at two other bikes, one a suzuki SV 650s with the V-twin and a ninja 500r. Both are not cruisers but I liked the feel and the riding position. Anywho, they finally emailed me back with prices which are far less then the cruiser so we well see how this plays out. I eventually will get into cruisers but for the time being they seem to expensive for what I need/want compared with the standard bikes.

| Paintmann111, Just take you time purchasing a used bike, people would said anything to sale their bike. Do a little homwork can go a long way, pickup reading how to buy a used bike info on the internet, some of the sites give you excellent advices specially for the new rider and their 1st bike. I just got my 1st bike last week, after completed the MSF class for one years. I been searching for the last 12 months. My also a 2004 Yamaha Vstar 650 Classic. I got it at the Dealer for $3800 low mileage 2377. Gook luck on your dream bike! Sorry I don't know how to post the pics on here! Last edited by tmtplyb; 03-15-2007 at 08:38 AM. |

| True, I am interested in the dealer bike though because I might be able to get them into the high 2000's for it. With a bike with close to 30,000 miles it looks real nice with no scratches, dents, rips or tears on the body or seats. The chrome is nice as well. Since this bike has 30,000 miles on it, what should I be looking for, and what would I be planning on doing in the near future as far as repair/maintence?
