Default C50 & C90 Radiator

Hi,

What is the major difference between the engine cooling systems on the C50 and C90 Boulevards? Which is better?
I am thinking of upgrading to the C90T

You're thinking of trading up to a C90T solely on the basis of the cooling system? I don't understand.

Your c50 is water cooled and my LC1500 (older c90) is air and oil cooled. I had 1 water cooled bike and always worried about that raditor. But the air cooled motor not that great in bumper to bumper traffic in hot weather and the motor puts out alot of heat during those summer months. Look at all the HD execpt for the VROD they always been air cooled.

If you do much 2 up riding like I do the C90 will handle a lot better. Plus the tank is under the seat. That's one of the bad things because the tank is only 3,5 gallons so I have to stop between 100 to 125 miles to refuel. But that oK with me give me and the Misses a chance to walk around, get something to drink and you know women are always go to the bathroom.

If you get a HD in the electraglide engine range they make a cooling fan that takes the place of the horn....That will drop the oil temp quite a bit. I thnk in the 20 to30 degree range. It is a standard catalog item on the HD web sight.

Lone Ranger,

I'm all for brand loyalty, so going from a C50 to a C90 would normally be the logical progression. However, the C90 is NOT the best choice for a large cruiser. It has "average" brakes for its class and it has a SMALL gas tank as well (3.9 gallons). The Harley's are better these days, especially with the 6-speed tranny, but they are still experiencing overheating problems with the Electra Glide-class motors. So, caution there.

I would look into the Honda and Yamaha big cruisers first, if that's what you're after. Then, consider the Kawasaki Nomad 1600. It's a big, heavy bike, but dollar for dollar is probably the best buy in the big cruiser metric arena. You can argue points on many competitors in this arena, but the Nomad, the big Yami's and the always reliable Honda's are a tough act to follow.

My $.02,
Daryl

Just curious. What do you mean by "average" brakes?

I've talked to others about this brake suff. If the front brake was to lock up any sooner you could be in for trouble. But 2002 and up have daul brakes in front.

I just bought a Yamaha Stratoliner S and had a 2006 C90. No comparison. What a BIKE. I know it's alot more money but that's why it's alot more bike.
