| For $15,000 US dollars you should be able to buy an M109R and have change left over, even at inflated prices. Am I missing something? They are $12,599 dealer's / MSRP here. The M50 lists for $6899.00 US dollars. The M50 is a great bike; can't speak about the Vulcan, but I suspect it is a fine machine as well. |

| They are both good bikes. One advantage the Suzuki has over the Vulcan 800 is that it is shaft driven as opposed to the vulcan which is chain driven. Other than that I think its more of a personal taste decision.the Suzuki Boulevard 800's were considered to be the leaders in the middle weight cruiser category but now that Kawi has the 900 and Yamaha the 1300 but whatever you choose you can't really go wrong imho.

| Really, both are excellent bikes, so you can’t go wrong with either. Just choose the one that you like the style of better. As for why they are so expensive in Mexico, it’s because it’s, well, Mexico, and the government taxes and tariffs the hell out of everything. I rode my bike to Mexico one time with some friends, and we were charged $300 each for a temporary import license just to ride in Mexico for one friggin day. An M109 lists for $160,000 Mexican plus assembly, which is roughly $15,300 USD, already much higher than in the USA. Add to that a 20% import tariff because the bike was not built in Mexico or a NAFTA country, so you are up to $18,360. Now add in the 15% national Value Added Tax charged on all vehicles (and that is 15% of the vehicle + 15% of the tariff you already paid), and you are up to $21,114.00 USD. Add to that any state taxes, plus registration fees, and you are up near $23,000.00 before you get the thing out the door. So any motorcycle in Mexico costs about 45% more than up here. No wonder they want to move here.

| Ditto, I'd have made fun of you for the other one...it was just a test. Besides, I hear the Yamaha only comes in Pink

| Wildwolf is correct in North America but its possibly different in Mexico. I know in England the M50 is called the Intruder 800. Go figure !

You've picked a fine scoot. No matter whether it's an M50 or a C50. Now, judging by the info DrBob provided re: the cost of motorcycles in Mexico, I would hate to think how much it will cost you to add some bling!

| What does it take for a Mexican to visit America...legally, I mean? Come over for a week's vacation. Buy the bike at American prices, ride it enough to classify it as a used vehicle, and then take it back to Mexico and pay much lower tariff's. What's wrong with this plan? |
