| I think it was just one of those bikes that didn't fit any particular category and wasn't selling well. They're known for Honda's high quality. My buddy had an '84 that wouldn't die, and I almost bought a late-model Magna before I came to my senses and realized I wasn't a cruiser guy. If you like it, go for it. Happy paddling!

| Great bike and an assload of power for a cruiser. It was ahead of it's time. That is why it was discontinued. It didn't fit the conventional beliefs of a "cruiser", it was a niche bike. It's run was during a time when the mantra was V-Twin or nothing. Look up the stats on the Internet for the bike and you will be surprised. Magazine guys loved the hell out of it, and the group of followers of the bike are hardcore.

| My father has a '98, I think, and for a 750 it runs way over its head. It is very smooth to the red line. Here are a couple of write ups I found for my dad when he was thinking about buying it. Honda Magna 750cc - Road Test & Review - Motorcycle Cruiser Harley-Davidson V-Rod vs. Honda VTX 1800 vs. Honda Valkyrie vs. Honda Magna vs. Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Mean Streak vs. Yamaha V-Max vs. Yamaha Road Star - Performance Cruiser Motorcycle Comparison – Motorcycle Cruiser The second one the Magna is the smallest bike, and it holds its own even with bikes more than twice the engine size. Hope this helps. |

| Congrats on the purchase, and you made a good choice. All three generations of the Magna had good reputations for reliability. Your third generation was in production unchanged except for paint color for 9 years (a pretty good run for a Honda cruiser). As for why it was discontinued... The Magna was 9 years old and about due for a redesign. But its 4-cylinder motor had limited market appeal. Honda came up with the all-new VTX1300, which was a V-twin with broader appeal. The smaller Magna actually made 2 more HP than the larger VTX, so keeping the Magna would have meant competing with themselves and making their new model look underpowered, so Honda ditched the Magna. If you do a Google search you can find the Magna Riders Association website.

| PaddlePro, I am one of the aforementioned Magna junkies. I think they are great looking and performing bikes. Let us know what you think.

| I was actually looking for a Magna before I found my Marauder. Those things were hard to find around here.

| Pick up the latest edition of Roadbike magazine, it has a very good article on the history of the Magna, an interesting read to say the least.

| I can only repeat what was already said, great bike, but before it's time. I had one of the 700 when they first came out, I think it was a 1983, lots of power, very smooth, I wish I still had it.
