Default Clunking sound on a C50

Hi all,
New member .. first post... I bought a new 2005 C50 2 months ago. 250 mi so far. I love this bike but it has a clunky sound like small parts rattling around randomly at driveaway and at low speeds (maybe I just dont hear it faster?). Seems mostly associated with clutch use/ gear change. Dealer says "wait 500mi and it will go away" but I am worried and dont trust dealer GRIN. Anybody have any guidance on what this might be ? Will it go away ?
thanks !
Annie

I agree with the dealer- wait until your first service and see it it goes away. Odd noises and clunky shifting are often related to oil (low oil level, wrong tpe, wrong viscisity). The bike was shipped from the factory with break in oil instead of the normal oil it uses (not to mention the residual assembly lube), so you have both the wrong type and the wrong viscosity. Plus the clearances are real tight until the motor sheds some metal and breaks in. That's why it is so important to do that first service on time.
Mention it at the first service, but I'm guessing once you have the fresh oil in it, and the clutch cable has been adjusted to remove the initial stretching, everything will be fine.

Also, don't lug the motor, which is often a cause of strange noises. It's an 800cc motor, not a 96 cubic inch Harley, so it is not real happy trying to pull at low RPMs. Keep the revs up and slip the clutch to control the bike at parking lot speeds.

My C50 used to make a kind of snapping noise as I let out on the clutch....That has gone after a few oil changes. I use it for fun and commuting to work, about 150 miles a week minumum and now it has 9100 miles on it and everything has improved. Even the sound and the power.
